I've seen mock drafts with him as high as 13th. I think he's a definite first round talent and could have a very solid career.

SubG ...Congrats on Coach of the Year to Coach Marshall.....His commitment to WSU must be well known as I do not see his name come up often for other jobs....and you guys must treat him well

Thanks. His name in the recent past has been tossed around for a number of jobs. I believe he turned down Tennessee, NC State, Nebraska and UCLA. There are a couple of others I believe as well. I think people are starting to realize that he's not simply chasing money. I believe his base pay here is around 1.8million. Many of us feel it should be at 2mil, but I'm not sure how much higher we can go after that. We do have some insanely wealthy donors. And that money goes a lot farther in Wichita than a lot of places, so when you adjust for cost of living, we compete pretty well. He also has a private jet for both recruiting and vacationing with his family. The team flys chartered everywhere. Just about anything he wants, he gets. Plus, we pack in over 10k every game and he, his family and his team is treated like royalty in town.

It also doesn't hurt that his kids are currently in a fantastic school district and I don't think he wants to really move them. Plus Lynn, his wife, loves Wichita. His son will be a SR in HS next year and his daughter a FR. I'm not sure he ever leaves, but I'm pretty sure he won't until Maggie has graduated. On top of that, there's no way on God's green earth that he's leaving VanVleet and Baker. Add in the fact that I think he's bringing in what looks to be his best recruiting class to date and he's a happy man. I don't see him leaving for anything less than a destination job that he'll retire at. I also don't think he wants to coach forever so maybe 10 more years or so. That would put him at 61.

Either way, the man is a fantasic coach and recruiter and fits in well here. He's raised the bar and has served notice to the MVC and I think most will rise up and elevate the conference as a whole in the years to come.

He's not the kind of player you're going to build a franchise around, but he's definitely got the upside to be a key piece to augment a better team, or replace a good player going into free agency. So I'd expect him to go somewhere between 15-30. Which is great for him, because he'll get some guaranteed money going in the first round.

Here's the rookie pay scale:

Also great for Wichita State, becuse they'll get to point to Early as an example of player development and the ability of their program to funnel players into the league.

He'll be the third guy to play at WSU under Marshall to make it into the NBA. He'll be the first to be drafted though. We currently have a connection with Gal Mekel of Dallas and Toure' Murry of New York. Gal played in Israel for a few years after leaving Wichita and Toure' spent a year in the D League.
