I've always heard a lot of searches and interviews for coaching positions are done at Final Four weekend, I wonder if it's the same for AD's |

A national search will take a couple months-- there are lots of moving parts involved (advertising, promotion of the opportunity, ample time to put together a solid application, background checks, degree verification, references, review of applications, etc.). Calhoun promised to stay on through May to allow for the search. I would be surprised if we heard anything before June 1. |

Hey Brot! I believe there is a search committee established, so things are moving. I think Calhoun is here through May 15 (not the end of the month), but I agree with 63 that it will be a few weeks before there is news. I hope there is as open a process as possible. |

It may seem counterintuitive to some, but the fact that Calhoun got a "better" job after Loyola will probably attract better quality applicants. It might have looked even better if she had stayed 5-7 years instead of 3 1/4, but it certainly looks better than having the previous incumbent going from Loyola to a South Suburban high school. Additionally, the fact that men's volleyball is ranked #1 nationally, we have improved facilities, we're in the MVC, non-revenue sports have more success/committment, and the athletic department budget should be getting a 20% or so increase sometime soon are other plusses. The athletic deparment also still has potential to pluck some low hanging fruit almost immediately, particularly with attendance, marketing, broadcasting, and possible expansion to fill out some lower-cost additional sports (tennis, for instance, which would help us quickly with MVC all sports competitiveness). The AD gig is no longer a backwater afterthought job at Loyola, and together with the university's academic prestige, makes this job something of a plum. |

True. Good points. I hope we get someone who is committed to being here for the long haul, not someone who sees us as a step on his/her career path. |
