86 and others are touching brilliantly on the coming NCAA changes. Its great to be associated with you guys !! Never too old to learn, I guess--especially in my case.
Now then , here is an idea which will never fly but would truly even the table a tad--
Athlete perks across the board----
--Only one--Each athlete will be PAID for services--as in being a contractor--BUT nothing else--nothing more than any other student---ie NO more athletic scholarships--You try for academic schollies same as anyone else. That way it seems to me that LUC could compete with say Ohio St --school vs school. The Athlete would go to a place that suits him for later life--You know--Think what College education is actually for.

NO money to Athletes in addition to the Thousands they already get in perks.

Will not even see the light of day--ergo LUC is right back chugging along TRYING to rise--but !!! There now, I am truly a "polyanna"--but you already knew that !!

Brot - love your idea, but that skews the competition even further. With the cost of private school tuition being through the roof, as well as in many instances higher academic standards, you'd run private schools out of the equation. I mean it as no knock, but a school like Illinois State takes a huge advantage for an IL resident over Loyola.

Full scholarships plus stipends for cost of attendance. That's my best-case scenario.

I wonder if the NAIA has considered talking to the big revenue schools to try to lure them away from the NCAA. They could come out and say, "Come to the NAIA and we'll let you pay your players". I'm oversimplifying but I don't think it's too far fetched to have something along those lines happen.

That sounds pretty much like what's happening except it will be the autonomous NCAA Big Five instead of the NAIA.
