If you just presented that for men's basketaball, I'd pretty much agree. But the rest of our sports are looking up.

Despite joining the MVC on short notice last year, only one of our sports finished last-- men's basketball. Softball made the conference championship game, women's soccer was picked last and finished third, men's soccer was picked sixth and finished fifth. Women's basketball was picked sixth, but finished eighth after three key injuries to experienced starters. Even with the disappointing finishes, both men's and women's basketball won a tournament game.

Men's volleyball had one of the most dominating seasons by any men's volleyball team in 30 years, going 29-1 and winning the national championship.

This year, the women's basketball team has one of the best schedules in the league, will be able to start four players at 6'0" or above, get the injured and experienced players back, and get a Purdue transfer at midseason. I am really excited by their direction, and although I haven't looked at what other teams in the league are bringing in and bringing back, they certainly have the potential to finish in the top four.

I've already picked women's soccer and women's volleyball to finish second in the MVC; men's soccer is going to be tougher, but I don't think they'll be last. Softball lost a couple of key players and has a new coach, but they shouldn't finish last either.

I think we're probably on the same page (or near it) when it comes to men's basketball, lusuperfan, but all of Loyola athletics is not so dire. The programs that are competing successfully, and especially the program that won a national championship and made two consecutive Final Four appearances, doesn't really deserve a comical music soundtrack. Give them some credit, and support them as an example to the one lagging area we need to fix.

Mainly for men's basketball. However, considering that we don't have an AD yet (I know, it hasn't been that long but...) and there have been stories of infighting and behind-the-scenes political battles all over this board over the past 2 days, I figure it could extend to that as well.
