I find this type of evaluation very interesting. It's used not only by the NBA but some of the top tier NCAA schools as well. It provides so much data it can be overwhelming. However, for a Loyola team that's undersized it could be a magic bullet that cuts through wasted practice time trying to be a team that it can't be and provide some clear cut strategies that could be successful.
1. A team that presses can collect data on where the most successful traps happen with who, where and against which opposing players.
2. Can show where a rebound is outleted, pushed up the court, and which sets are most productive. It will also collect data as to what entry points are most efficient with which players.
Anyway you get the general drift what this technology can do and its not subjective evaluation.
It's not cheap. I don't know what installation costs but I believe its a 125k a year subscription .
The rub is it becomes more valuable when everyone in the conference uses it. This seems to me to be a very easy do and could give not only Loyola an competitive edge but other Valley schools as well.
I think the best tools generated are for a pressing and pressure type of team, which Loyola better be if they are going to compete.

Pretty wild the technology that is out there. Advanced analytics are, like it or not, here to stay in sports.

Doubt LUC can/will spend that much on the service at this point in time.

There are ways to do this old school (i.e. pen and paper). You have to have a keen observer but it can be done.

I talked my master's stats prof into a LU outing where we did some of this statistical work. Good times.

The soccer program has players wear a heart monitor to measure physical exertion. Basically a coach can tell when you're dogging it.

In order to detect any movement from me, the cameras would have to be slowed down from 25 times per second to 25 times per hour.

With the updates to the Ramblermania.net main page, we have installed similar software here. What we've found is not surprising: Swellafelon is slacking, but it's nothing compared to Falafelon, who hasten been seen in months.

Meanwhile, Rambler63, Go, and in particular, LU86 have been carrying the board.

Do you remember that scene in Glory where Matthew Broderick's character says, "If this man should fall who will lift the flag and carry on?"

I feel that scene is applicable here.

And then everybody started yelling "I'm Spartacus.", right?

Great movie.

You forgot that I'm transitioning to emeritus status.
