Per VerbalCommits and Twitter, we signed JuCo transfer Maurice Kirby.
He's a 6'9", 230 pound Center.
It's for next year, but an interesting signing nonetheless. We were on him a few years ago but he committed to Virginia Tech, redshirted his freshman year and then went the JuCo route.

Thanks for the gold star. Have not received one of those in sixty years. It will go right on the fridge. When I read this news in May I thought it might be more than a mere coincidence. Mr. Kirby certainly has the size the team really needs to become more competitive in the MVC. I hope there is another big man and a point guard on the horizon.

Maurice has a younger brother Devin who is a 6"10" high school junior projected to grow a couple more inches. He has one scholarship offer to date.

Trivia: When was the last time the Ramblers had two brothers playing together?
As for Maurice, my impression from what's online is that he was 6'9" as a high school sophomore and had a bunch of high majors looking at him then, as he projected to get bigger and better. But he stopped growing up, started growing out, and never much improved, so he dropped to a two star recruit as a senior. Virginia Tech was his only high major offer.
All reports are he's a high character guy and has some skills, but don't expect him to be a star.
I hope he proves me wrong, but even if he doesn't I think it's a pretty good get nonetheless because he definitely brings much-needed size to the Ramblers and seems like a good kid.
