One of the best private school fundraisers is currently available and might like a challenge. Father John Smyth formally of Maryville Academy and most recently Notre Dame Prep is an outstanding fundraiser. He kept Notre Dame Prep in Niles open when it was close to shuting it's doors. Yes he is not a Jesuit and he is 79 or 80 years old but Loyola Athletics needs help NOW. The former University of Notre Dame basketball captain and 1st. round pick of the St. Louis Hawks knows college sports. Father Smyth could help Brian Day in fundraising for athletics. I'm not assumeing he would want the job, but no harm in asking. |

I've never met the man but I've been told he can fundraise like few others anywhere. Although i wasn't there , I was told by people who were at the House of Blues for The Who fundraiser for Maryville that Pete Townsend droped Father Smyth's name often. You would have thought he brought up at the academy in Des Plaines instead of east London. |

I am very close and involved with Niles ND and Fr. Smyth. He is an unbelievable man and saved the school. However, there are numerous reasons why he may not be the best idea for LU. His age is having some effects and he (unfortunately) did not leave ND on the best of terms. Don't want to say too much more on this forum. |
