We recruited this 3 star North Chicago combo guard in high school, but he signed with Murray State. Just 2 months into his freshman year, he's decided he's "homesick" and plans to transfer next semester and look for a school closer to home. http://www.chicagohoops.hoops247.com/in ... rray-state viewtopic.php?f=12&t=155 He played AAU with the Chicago Wolves, Mullins' outfit, as did Roosevelt Smart and Joe Crisman. Maybe Moser should give Jayquan a call. We fit the bill as a school close to his North Chicago home. Moser likes his game, we have 2 scholarships available, and we'll need a point guard after Keke graduates in 2 short years. My only hesitation is that from the limited video I watched, his game is quite similar to Smart's (and to a lesser extent Doyle's), so he may be a tad redundant. Also, for sentimental reasons, I would prefer to sign Niego + Rafferty from Chicago Lockdown as a package deal. |

We do have one scholarship open for a midseason transfer. However, McCloud was recruited more as a 2 guard than a point guard. I think PM has to look for a true point to replace Keke. Who knows what December brings when it comes to other transfers who might be better fits. Also, not to rain on the Niego parade, but I think we're not as high on his list as the Ivy League schools recruiting him. |

I'm sure we will explore this. Positional need isn't as important as getting good athletes and players into the system. You have to wonder about the homesickness thing. That definitely happens, but if there was something more going on behind the scenes, you'd want to be cautious about that. I don't mean to imply anything. I think I said in the other thread about him that he comes across as a good kid. Wherever he goes, when will he be eligible? Since he's not playing, would it be fall of 2015? Or since he's not transferring out of school until after the fall semester, would he not be eligible until the spring of 2016? |

Pretty sure he'd be eligible second semester next academic year, assuming he enrolls at Loyola this spring semester. The requirement that a transferring player sit out one year at his new school is triggered not only by his playing or practicing at the former school, but also by his attending classes there. |

I believe I read that he is going to finish this semester at Murray State and then transfer. |
