I am going to go out on a limb and say I am starting to feel we are turning a corner in basketball.

First I think we made a great choice with the AD. It took a lot of time but I like his pedigree and his track record.

Secondly, even though this may be another long season I really liked what I saw out on the court Saturday night. We seem to be moving in the direction of bringing players with more athleticism. I am so much more impressed with this new group over the ones that left. I hadn't seen us move the ball down the court and get some easy fast breaks in years. I also saw what I hope is growth in the coaching of Moser. He let them play, did not pull them out after one mistake, and did not try and slow the game down and kill our momentum after we got a 10 point lead. He also made great halftime adjustments.

I swear I am not drinking but I see good things coming down the road. I think we will do better than expected in the Valley this year and if they can pick up some height and rebounding next year can be a force to be reckoned with. Sure I got this all from a win against a Division II team but I saw a team that can be exciting and grow. Not just run the clock down to 5 seconds and put up a desperation shot. Come one and come all and be a part of the Renaissance.

I like your enthusiasm, I like Steve Watson, I like the fast breaks, and I hope you're right that Porter has grown as a coach, but our lack of height is going to kill us this year against teams that are bigger and more skilled than Rockhurst.

I don't see any way around it.

This is going to be a very tough year, and remember we will lose Thomas and Crisman after this season. Rockhurst was 7-18 last year, and our next opponent is Division II McKendree. I wouldn't get too excited until after Friday's game, when Michigan State picks apart other weaknesses we haven't even realized.

Based on the other games this weekend, the bottom of the MVC might not be as improved as previously thought. Bradley lost to Texas-Arlington at home by 11, Illinois State lost to Utah State at home, and Bowling Green beat Drake in Des Moines by 19. St. Louis should be down this year after losing a lot of upperclassmen, but still came back to beat Southern Illinois by 3.

My point is we are a better team than we were last year and more athletic than we have been in the last 10 years.

JCT, we are going to lose players every year and Thomas will be missed. He is a good tough player and has played his heart out but I am not going to start wringing my hands about next year.

The Valley is a one team league not all that different from when the Horizon had Butler and they were on their game. Things can turn around very fast and a young nucleus may be forming. I feel much better about our team than I did last year and I feel we are on the move. That's all I'm saying.

Love our young talent. Haven't seen this kind of speed and athleticism in maroon and gold in a while.

However, two things will hold us back this year: 1. Lack of size and 2. Porter Moser. IMO, anyways

Renaissance,Zeke? Renaissance,Lady GreyBee?

If we play division 2 teams all year,I would agree with you.

But guess what,we play division 1 teams the rest of the year starting on Friday.Let's see what kind of Renaissance we start?!??? On Friday.

Keep drinking that Maroon and Gold kool-aid.

In the meantime,I will SUFFER through another year as an alum and season ticket holder ,saying it has now been 30 YEARS since we have been in a post season tourney. And the beat goes on.
