I saw Drake was going to play Murray State on Sunday, and thought about two 2014 recruits we missed out on: JayQuan McCloud and Ore Arogundade. So I looked them up.

Turns out JayQuan McCloud bailed out on Murray State about the time practice started. Says he want to play closer to home. He's making visits to DePaul and UIC.

Arogundade started Drake's first two games and went 0 for 9 from the field. Coming off the bench in their third game (a loss at at Western Michigan) he was great-- 3 for 3 behind the arc for 11 points, with 3 rebounds, an assist and a steal in 16 minutes. But in Drake's only win (at home vs. IUPUI), zero points and a turnover in 5 minutes.

I also caught the end of the Xaver vs. San Diego game last night and saw Sean O'Mara come in for the last 1:10 when the game was safely put away. The guy had to know he was going to get little playing time as a freshman behind Matt Stainbrook, but through Xavier's five games this year he's played a total of 25 minutes, didn't see any time in one game (may have received a disqualification), and scored 10 points. If he came to play with the Ramblers, he'd probably be averaging 25 minutes and 10 or more points per game. Oh well. He may not even get all that much time on the court once Stainbrook graduates, because Xavier has another 6'10" freshman Makinde London taking a redshirt, 6'10 junior James Farr getting 19 minutes a game, and 6'10" sophomore Jalen Reynolds getting 17 minutes per game.

James Farr, an Evanston native, is a kid that we looked at as well (I believe in the spring right after Porter was hired).

I know it's still early in the season, but if you would like to indulge in a game of would've, could've, should've...

Other 2014 kids we recruited:
Vic Law - F - Northwestern - 6 games, 6 starts, 29 mpg, 9 ppg, 6.7 rpg
Bryant McIntosh - G - Northwestern - 6 games, 6 starts, 34 mpg, 9.8 ppg, 4.7 apg, 2.5 rpg
Sean Sellers - F - Ball St. - 4 games, 3 starts, 30 minutes, 19.5 ppg
Jeremie Tyler - G - Ball St. - 4 games, 4 starts, 32.2 mpg, 16.3 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 2 apg
Aaron Brennan - F - Loyola Indiana...I mean IUPUI - 4 games, 3 starts, 22.5 mpg, 8.8 ppg, 4 rpg
Micah Littlejohn - G - Tulsa - has not played
Mack Mercer - F - Belmont - 4 games, 2.3 mpg, 1.0 ppg, .3 rpg
Amanze Egekeze - F - Belmont - 6 games, 14.7 mpg, 4.8 ppg, 2.8 rpg
Patrick McCaw - G - UNLV - 4 games, 22.3 mpg, 7.5 ppg, 2.8 rpg
Rasheed Worrell - F - Bowling Green - has not played
Jevon Carter - G - West Virginia - 6 games, 0 starts, 20.5 mpg, 10.5 ppg
Trey Lyles - F - Kentucky (yes, we did give him an offer) - do you want to depress yourself?

And some JUCOs we missed out on too:
Warren Jones - G - Bradley - 4 games, 29.5 minutes off the bench, 12.5 ppg, 4.8 rpg
Kevin Punter Jr. - G - Tennessee - 4 games, 4 starts, 32.5 mpg, 10 ppg, 3.3 apg

Wow, that's a stunningly comprehensive list. And you posted it only 45 minutes after the initial post. Are you keeping track of these guys?

I posted about these three guys because I thought we were pretty close on getting them, and their names stuck in my mind. I also had high hopes for McCaw for a while, because Loyola seemed like a good match academically and Porter probably had contact with him early.

No I had to search the board to go back through the names, and I didn't really go into depth on stats. I probably even missed a couple. But I was watching the UNI/Northwestern game, so Law and McIntosh stuck in my mind. That was a good start.

While I am sure O'Mara will have a successful stint at Xavier, its nice to see him sit and waste a season. He would have been starting for us obviously.
But as Colonel Ludlow said in "Legends of the Fall", "Screw 'em!"

Does your attitude towards recruits who have scorned Loyola extend to administrators who have done likewise?

Hint: When she wasn't churning personnel, she was taking trips to Rome or hiring her husband as golf coach.
