Entering our 5th season in the MVC, we haven't hosted many Conference Championship events. The only event's we've hosted in our first four years have been the 2017 Men's Golf Championship and the 2016 Women's Golf Championship. This year's schedule of Conference Championships hasn't come out yet, but I'm hoping that with the departure of Wichita State, Loyola can step forward and apply to host a few more events.

We've got a great facility for volleyball, and adequate facilities for men's and women's soccer and softball. I'd especially like to see the Soccer Park used for a championship, because we're very competitive in both sports. We've previously hosted volleyball and soccer championships in the HL. Perhaps hosting a conference championship will allow some expenses to update, refurbish or expand the current facilities.

I think we have a great facility to host volleyball. I don't think our soccer and softball fields are as good as other schools. So I'd think we have the best shot at volleyball. If I had to guess, the Valley wants the host team to make the tournament, which could be the only thing standing in our way for hosting since the team has been inconsistent since we've joined the conference. If they can show that they will consistently be near the top of the conference I think we'll get it in the future.

My prediction for this year is we will not host a tournament.

I think a huge part of being a leader in the conference is hosting conference championships.

WSU used to host a lot of conference championships. They're gone, and no one expects Valpo (whose facilities are worse than Loyola in every area) to host a conference tournament.

And if the softball and soccer facilities are below par, let's improve them.

The Gentile would be a great place for the women's basketball tournament- especially if Coach Achter can develop a competitive program!

The intimate , small capacity of Gentile Arena is perfect for Volleyball and Women's basketball . Not only do we now have a hotel in the area , Hilton Garden Inn chain could be the sponsor of a tournament . Happy with the men's basketball tourney staying in St. Louis but Chicago and the Joe should be the permanent home of the women's tournament . A much more attractive destination than St. Charles, Mo. or the Quad Cities .

I don't think admin will be in any rush to plan facilities upgrades when you consider the financial position of the state of Illinois and how that's affecting things such as the MAP grants. I know that Loyola is actually working on cutting budgets in various areas to make up for the MAP grant shortfalls. It would be a hard sell to cut administrative budgets and even some academic programs while upgrading athletic facilities.
