Wow-- coming on the heels of a 1-1 tie at home against #16 Wisconsin on Thursday night, Loyola's women's soccer team went to Columbia, Missouri to play undefeated Missou on Sunday. After going down 1-0 early in the second half, Loyola's freshman Megan Nemec scored two goals in a three minute span to put Loyola on top 2-1 with 11 minutes left. The Ramblers held on to get a road win over an SEC team.... pretty nice.

Loyola was picked to win the MVC in the preseason women's soccer poll, but struggled badly in the first several games. They opened the season at Illinois, where they lost 3-1, and then got buried 6-0 at Kansas. After a 2-1 home opener win over South Dakota, they dropped another road game at Ball State, 2-1. So after a 1-3 open, they're now 2-3-1, with the win and the tie coming against P5 teams.

Nemec is the reigning MVC Freshman of the Week for two assists and a goal last week; she should be in the mix for MVC Offensive Player of the Week. Senior Madison Laudeman was especially solid on defense, making a lot of key plays in the closing minutes when Missouri was scrambling for a tie.

Missouri was 5-0 headed into the game, having beat Ohio State in Columbus and beating Cincinnati, Xavier, and Murray State at home. Missouri was picked to finish 10th out of the 14 SEC women's soccer teams.
