#6 YSU beat #3 Valpo today, so our first opponent will be YSU tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. at Flames Field. This will be the first meeting of the year between Loyola and YSU, as the three regular season games at YSU were postponed/cancelled by weather. #1 seed UIC will be playing #5 seed Wright State.
Here's the bracket:
http://s3.amazonaws.com/hln/sports/brac ... 1368044061Going into the Spring sports season, Loyola led the McCafferty Trophy standings:
1. Loyola - 36
2. Milwaukee - 32
3. Cleveland State - 26
4. UIC - 24.5
5. Detroit - 23
6. Green Bay - 14
7. Youngstown State - 15.5
8. Valparaiso - 14
9. Wright State - 11
Since then, Loyola has won Women's Outdoor Track & Field, Milwaukee has won Men's Outdoor Track & Field, Cleveland State won Men's Tennis, UIC won women's tennis, Valpo won Men's Golf, and Detroit won Women's Golf. Milwaukee leads in the Baseball standings, so Loyola getting some points from Softball is crucial.
For Softball and other sports, there's a complicated point system that gives 60% of points to the regular season champ and 40% of the points to the conference tournament champ. I'm still not sure how points are awarded for Loyola sharing the regular season Softball championship, or whether UIC gets them all because of the tiebreaker giving them the #1 seed.
