Well sports fans, I can't believe this is actually happening. I am not prepared for this to become a postseason rivalry, but I know the Cardinals have St. Louisian Christian Thomas on their side!

The fan mix in this part of the state is about 45% Cardinals, 40% Cubs, 5% White Sox, and the rest split between other teams. So there's plenty of smack talk going around.

Here's a suggestion for a timely Connect Transit promotion.

Since Bloomington-Normal is pretty much evenly split between Cubs and Cards fans, why not put signs on buses saying one side of the bus is reserved for Cubs fans and the other side is reserved for Cardinal fans, and let the fun begin!

Where would Sox fans be forced to sit? Or are they required to stand?

I was at game 1 tonight, just an electric atmosphere. Even compared to other playoff games I've been to, it felt different. I'd say it's a respectful, friendly atmosphere...but I'll also be at game 2 tomorrow and don't want to jinx it.

When I first moved down here, Schnuck's supermarket (a St. Louis-based store) would have their employees wear gear from their favorite team during the Cubs-Cards series. They kind of stopped doing that the past few years, but maybe the improved Cubs might help re-ignite the rivalry.

Well, I felt like the Cardinals needed both games at home, so we shall see from here. Good win for the Cubs today behind their worst starter. Arrieta is due to give up... a run... sometime, right?

Meanwhile, Jaime Garcia with another in a line of crappy postseason starts. Stomach virus? I guarantee he didn't tell anyone before the game he was sick. Tough it out. Like he did with a shredded shoulder..

On Tuesday night, Cubs have a chance to win a postseason series at Wrigley... FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER.

Their only postseason series win since 1908 was beating the Atlanta Braves in the 2003 LDS at Turner Field. They lost the last games of the 1932 World Series, the 1945 World Series, the 1998 LDS, the 2003 NLCS, and 2007 LDS at Wrigley.

I felt the winner of tonight's game had the inside track to the series win, and still do.......but it can change quick. Postseason baseball can be a strange and fascinating animal
