May God keep Ernie !! He was a blessing for and to the great City Of Chicago !!
What a wonderful thing it was for me and the Rinehart family to get to watch him play and listen to !! Like so many others, we were lucky to have shaken his hand--He gave young Britt a baseball --his brother still has it.

Chicago has not won as many Championships as we should have--BUT we do have our class Sports figures--Ernie stands for me at least at the TOP of a great list--
Ernie, Walter, Gale Bobby ,Billy P Billy W, Dick B , Stan M, Gabby, Ron S, Fergie, Red G , Brian U, Michael J, Luke A, Minnie and Nelly along with Ted Lyons

I know I have forgotten some--Old Timers and new timers on the way up-- BUT who--just who in other cities can match this list for CLASS as well as talent ??

Here in Cleveland /Akron---OH, Bob Feller and Lou Boudreau a few others--Certainly NOT Jim Brown--Talent, yes, Class ? ? NO !!!

How lucky we are to have had ERNIE as part of our Sports lives !!!
