I found this very interesting reading.

It seems the plans for Centennial Forum have changed since the Reimagine Campaign began. Now, the suggestion seems to be that CF will be razed and a new building along the lines of MIT's Zesiger Sports Center building will be constructed on the site to house temporary practice facilities for the basketball and volleyball teams. This new building will be designed flexibly so that it can be repurposed to permit its use for concerts/conferences when a permanent practice facility is built on Broadway south of Hamilton's large enough to accommodate a 220 yard indoor track. The snag is that it may take years to acquire the property on which to build the larger athletics practice facility.

For some reason I thought the Halas extension included practice space for basketball. The idea for temporary basketball and volleyball practice space in a new building where Centennial Forum is located is an interesting one to me. I agree with much of the assessment of both the aesthetics and function of that space, and the author of the report made good suggestions for how those larger spaces could be re-purposed down the road when there's hopefully a permanent athletics practice facility with a track.
