During halftime at Loyola home basketball games, this video is played:

The first time I saw it I was mildly irritated, but by the third time I became downright pissed off. This is feminism and political correctness run amok, and it's time for guys to stand up and say enough of this "campus rape culture" slander.

Who decided that this piece of propaganda was an appropriate video to show at halftime of a basketball game to a captive audience of Rambler fans, most of whom are of an age when they'd rather take a nap than engage in coitus? If you want to air a Public Service Announcement at halftime, why choose one that demonizes at least half of the crowd? And what is the factual basis for supposing that sexual assault is such a pervasive problem at Loyola that it demands a PSA campaign at basketball games, where it reaches only a tiny fraction of its intended audience?

I have been following the Rolling Stone controversy recently, where an article in that periodical about a coed at the University of Virginia who claimed she was gang raped at a fraternity has been shown to be a hoax. In so doing, I have come across some feminist screeds that are stunning in the misandry, arguing that there should be a presumption of guilt against any man who is accused of sexual assault by a "survivor", and that the fact that the Rolling Stone article was a hoax is of no import to the larger truth that all men are pigs. This might be why I am particularly sensitive about this subject now.

Interim A.D. Susan Malisch, who I assume is behind this, should pull this video immediately, if for no other reason than it may violate the Title IX prohibition against creating a hostile environment for males.

Here are logs from Loyola's campus police for the past two months. Not one of the reported 94 incidents is for sexual assault.

Well, I am almost absolutely sure this world has passed me by. I do not understand what is happening--Are we becoming so conditioned to Political Correctness that half the population is guilty until proven innocent ???? Why do the Powers That be LEAP to conclusions time and time again? The DUKE case--now the U VA fraud ,and on and on. I hate to say it, but the culture today is becoming sicker and sicker---Entitled -entitled entitled. All males are bad ?? And a ton of women and men believe this ?? Sad commentary--
Folks get angry at me because they think I am a Conservative --They get ticked when I do not go along with this PC stuff--Thank God I have a lot of company--I know stuff --bad stuff is going on--Do not rub my nose in it---Half time video MUST go down.

Off subject a bit--Check out the MOONLIGHT FIRE a number of years ago in N Cal. Actual crookedness so bad a 9th district Judge recused himself and all his Judges because of US ATTY chicanery --Sierra Pac vs US--case is now being reviewed and Sierra is getting fines (millions of dollars back) --in other words FRAUD in high places same as that PC stuff----

I know this has nothing to do with LUC HOOPS but Swella got me thinking---My apology

This MUST stop

No, I'm serious, but I'll wait until after we beat Boise State to rant some more.

Almost makes me sorry we won. Let's take this discussion to the other board.

I posted it in "Men's Basketball" because the video is shown at men's basketball games, and I thought the context in which it was shown was an important part of the story.

But if Rambler63, as site administrator, thinks it should be moved to the "Off Topic" forum, then fine.

But, of course, moving it to "Off Topic" means the discussion will end, which to my mind is unfortunate.

I'm guessing that it's an NCAA thing. Much like the NFL is trying to fight abuse with a PR campaign, the NCAA may be trying to so something similar with sexual assault.

You might be right, Go. I found the following link about the unholy alliance between the NCAA and the White House on the issue du jour:

http://www.ncaa.org/about/resources/med ... nce-campus

I wonder if the 1 is 2 Many video (which was produced by the White House, fyi) is being played at other schools during halftime as part of this perverse partnership?

Here is the official government website for the video: http://www.whitehouse.gov/1is2many, which contains this grotesque bureaucratese:
Quote:
Speak up if you hear comments that promote violence against women. Be aware of language that you use that degrades women and survivors of other identities.

It seems the White House can't even bring itself to speak the word "men" in the context of victimhood, but prefers "survivors of other identities".

I'm sorry, but this video still rankles me no end. I don't believe ANY Public Service Announcements should be made during sporting events, particularly ones of a divisive and political nature. Fans go to games to enjoy themselves and root for their team. They should not be treated as a captive audience for government-sponsored propaganda of any sort.
