Jay Hosack, men's head coach at George Mason, just penned an article for DestinationVolleyball.com on the state and future of the men's game. Loyola is prominently mentioned in this article. I mentioned in another thread about the possibility of the Big West sponsoring men's volleyball and the MPSF downsizing as a result. He addresses that in this article also.

The Big West officially announces the addition of Men's Volleyball beginning in 2018 (2017-18 academic year). They will sponsor 6 teams, 5 which are already member schools of the Big West and 1 associate member. The MPSF will be reduced to 6 teams.

With a 5th automatic bid, this sets the stage for potential expansion of the NCAA Tournament from 6 to 8 teams.

I don't know much about high school volleyball but here is the release on this year's incoming class.

Just note that this was announced before Shane Davis was even contacted by Northwestern. Very noteworthy is Right Side Kyler Kotsakis who was named to the AVCA First-Team Boys High School Senior All-America just a few days ago.

Loyola lost three starters to graduation... Setter Peter Hutz, Middle Nick Olson, and Outside Trevor Novotny. Every other starter this past season was a freshman or sophomore except for Outside Cole Murray (Junior) who missed a lot of time due to injuries. Next season's team will be a young team.

Here's a noteworthy story from a couple years ago about a former Loyola recruit...

One of the middles coming in next year, Jake Linsky, was named to Men's Junior National Training Team roster this year. Current outside hitter Collin Mahan is also on the team. If this is any indication for the potential of next year, Linsky might be Olson's replacement and Mahan might become a solid full-time starter.
