#2 Loyola will host #7 Lindenwood at Gentile Arena this Saturday, April 14 at 7pm in the quarterfinals of the MIVA tournament.

Loyola took a bit of a stumble in the last couple of weekends. They lost to Ohio State to fall back into second place and lost at Lindenwood to become eliminated from being the #1 seed. An Ohio State loss at Ball State brought the sets tie-breaker into play which Ohio St. won 5-4 over Loyola. It is highly unlikey that Loyola can earn an at-large bid.

Vinnie Lopes at Off The Block came out with his tournament projections yesterday, and currently has Loyola in as an at-large. In the past, his brackets have been pretty spot on, minus a seed flip or two. He has a good breakdown of what we need to get an at-large and how things can change.

Makes sense when you see his first four out.

I assume this projects that Ohio State beats Loyola in the MIVA final? And if it's the other way (Loyola beats Ohio State), it's Loyola as a 4 and OSU as a 5.

But anyone coming out of the 4/5 game has got a huge task taking on Long Beach State. LBSU has lost only 12 games and only one match on the entire season. That's reminiscent of Loyola's 2014 team.

When I first read this the other day, it didn't make sense to me that Loyola was in position for the at-large considering the head to head loss to UC-Irvine. I know there are a lot of factors in the at-large but it didn't quite add up. If you read closely, Vinnie did remark that this did not inlcude the RPI and strength of schedules coming out the following day. Vinnie has now updated his bracketology and has dropped Loyola out of the at-large after the new RPI and SOS came out. Loyola has to win the MIVA. Another loss would completely kill any hope of an at-large.
