Last night #1 Loyola swept #14 IPFW in Fort Wayne to clinch home court in the MIVA playoffs. Because Loyola is hosting the Final Four this year, the Ramblers will not have to go on the road after the regular season is over-- and they have only one more road contest at Ohio State to conclude the regular season (April 11). http://www.offtheblockblog.com/2014/03/ ... ournament/ Loyola is now 21-1 on the season, 11-0 in conference, 9-0 on the road, and they've won 19 consecutive matches. The last time a team was as dominating as this year's Loyola squad was 2008, when Penn State won the championship with a 30-1 record. UCLA was the last undefeated champ in 1984. If you haven't caught a men's volleyball match this year, you should. Loyola is in line to be the #1 overall seed in the Final Four (if they take care of business in the MIVA Tournament) and a virtual lock for an at-large bid if they don't. Do youself a favor and check out a men's volleyball game sometime before this magical season-- in which the stars seem to be aligning for a possible National Championship-- is over. I'll be there for the April 5th match. I assume it will be Senior Night also as it is the last regular season home match. Peter Jasaitis and Joe Smalzer, both 5th year seniors, have been rocks on this team the past 4 years. |
