So that is what it takes,,,,,a possible scandal to get the Tribs attention. Every time a Notre Dame assistant coach goes to the bathroom there is an article. We win the CBI , have a great recruiting class and nada.....but Coach Swoopes has an exodus and the Trib puts us on the front page of the Sport Section along with the NFL Draft.

WOW !! If true, Swoopes is gone and LUC's program will suffer NCAA penalties which I HOPE does not go into Men's BB. The young lady's parents are key here.

It really shows what little rights kids have with the NCAA. It is not a violation to force a kid to sign a medical hardship. It is not against the rules to threaten a kid with their scholarship. It is not against the rules to berate and belittle a kid. Its not a violation to pull a scholarship because a kid is hurt. Its not a violation to make a kid play hurt and give them a further injury that stays with them for life.
Really what this whole thing with Swoopes shows were the extremely bad hires Kelly made with Calhoun and then installing Malisch. Maybe Kelly should let them conduct the external investigation that hasn't been defined.
The angle that these women who are transferring and making these allegations are soft and entitled makes no difference. Swoopes recruited them! She asked them to come play for her not the other way around. They were her choices.
The last thing about the tribs article was Watson's comment that Swoopes and staff are preparing for the upcoming season. Why in the world would you allow Swoopes to have any contact with any player until the investigation is complete? Any first year law student could tell that opens you up to litigation.

Well, based on what we now know--little as it is, I blame Calhoun, Swoopes and the rest involved NOT the young ladies. Watson ?/What was he thinking ??

I am going to go WAY out on a limb here--Watson , Swoopes Kelly all go--Porter becomes AD--I say this as all I have seen in him is a straight and moral shooter, a decent man--knows how to treat young folks--has a good rapoire (sp) with his peers out side LUC. He might even take the job !!!

Brot..AHunte is right on by exodus I mean the leaving of the Student-Athletes. The more I think about this issue the more I see it as a litmus test of the current Athletic Department. That it happened is an indictment of the past administration,how it is handled , the current. And of course an indictment of any common denominators from a higher level as well.(Dr.Kelly)
My thoughts based on no facts at this time is that the LU is scared of canning Coach Swoopes for 4 reasons. 1. Dont want to bite the salary 2. No one wants to be the guy that fires Hall of Famer Swoopes (playing hot potato) 3. She is an aggressive, bullying personality 4. fear of wrongful termination law suits. So just maybe they are rightfully doing due diligence but as an alum I hope that there overriding principle here is the care and treatment of the student-athlete the same way it would be to protect a student from a mal-performing professor.
In the end this may take some guts. Coach Swoopes may have technically not broken any laws or rules but in the end it must take a lot to turn away a 52,000 education for uncertainty.
Last thought....can we sue Grace for unlawful hiring? It is apparent that Coach Swoopes was not ready for this job.
Last, last thought. I wish Father G was still running the show. I think this incident would give him a very clear picture of what is going on and he would take action. I hope the new Pres brings some stability.

Race or gender should NOT enter into this case--Those are the same in any athletic change in SPORTS
Coaching experience and temperament DO enter , in my opinion. Based on what little we know, these youngsters were treated as if they were Pro players--THIS goes to lack of College Coaching experience--
