The men's volleyball schedule was announced a couple weeks ago, and it's fantastic!

Long Beach State, USC, UC Santa Barbara, Cal State Northridge, and George Mason all make trips to Chicago. The Ramblers play at Pepperdine, at BYU, and against UC Irvine in Provo. Plus there are a lot of other new names on the non-conference slate. Oddly, no Penn State for the first time in a long time...

Hopefully, the team can improve from last year, which was certainly the worst season since 2009-- even factoring in the big improvement in the MIVA from top to bottom over the past decade.

With the Big West Conference sponsoring men's volleyball this season, the west coasters are migrating east a bit more to help with their non-conference schedules and hence their RPI. A team like Pepperdine, who almost never traveled to the midwest or east coast in recent years, had been seriously hurt in the "at-large" debate because of a weak non-conference schedule or in their case, the lack of one. Now that we have four major conferences, schools cannot avoid playing more non conference matches. These is indeed a knockout schedule for Loyola.
