Under 12 timeout, and Depaul leads Coppin State 15-12.

Maybe so, but you've gotta believe they'll be psyched up and ready to play when we show up...

Coppin State looked like they didn’t even belong on the same court with us last night. Before the first half of the first half was even reached. They’re right with Depaul tonight, driving through them with ease sometimes. I think that says something about how terrible Depaul is to start the season…but also something about the players and defense we have.

DePaul should thank us for wearing Coppin down last night. Unfortunately, they just ran out of gas in the second half.

Williamson plays lockdown defense on Liberty-Freeman and we should be able to take down DePaul. If Lucas can throw JFL off his game, the demons are going to struggle.

Great article about Coppin's first month or so of the season. Kind of eye opening for what low major programs need to do to survive.

thanks for posting...really interesting article.....I feel like major college sports are about to jump the shark and Media (dont even know what word to use TV, streaming etc) will be the culprit. If this was a play , Media would be the boss, the NCAA the weak enforcer, Kentucky the greedy son and Loyola the kid across the street that goes to Mass on Sunday....lets hope we dont get forced into skipping mass and stealing from the collection box. Remember we were close to being Coppin St. I would love to see an economist analyze the economic survival system of college sports.
It really is amazing, the rise of LU athletics and how we have done it...still graduating kids, no scandals, minor programs succeeding as well. We did have to do some conference jumping, build new facilities and were lucky to have some very generous alumni..(Gbt and thanks) some good ADs (25 would want to have a tip of the hat to Gracie as well as Steve) but when you read this Coppin story makes you feel a little lucky...
All being said and done...the last few years have been great...but I still miss sitting in the bleachers at old ALumni Gym with the radiators blasting, Fr. Loftus smoking a cigarette in a dark corner like a John LeClaire spy...and yelling at Dick Vitale on the Detroit bench.

I wonder what the academic experience was like for the Coppin kids?
