Perhaps because of my location I've heard Baldwin to Wisconsin rumors. Apparently impressed with how they've developed Johnny Davis.

I prefer to think of the Ivies as junior college for Loyola.

Gainey would be a great fit. He plays defense and he made the Ivy League All-Academic Team. He would check two boxes!

It's great to see us being so active in the transfer portal. It'll be interesting to see if we end up targeting more of these small conference players that want to step up or power conference players looking for a bigger role. I think the reason we're seeing the early focus on small conference players is just that the power conference teams are still playing.

I think we need a leading-scorer type wing for next year, and it seems more likely that type of player would come from a larger conference. My other alma mater, San Diego St, always seems to have a big-time scoring guard pulled from a bottom-tier Pac-12 school. It would be great if we could do something similar.

Baldwin will NEVER come to Loyola even if it was the only school available. This can be traced to how the entire Whitsell staff was terminated.
It was Whitesell's last year of his contract (8th) and he and his staff were showed their offices in the soon to be opened refursbished Norville Center.
This occurred three days before the official opening and press gala.
Once the opening occurred each of the staff was called in individually including Jim Whitesell and given their walking papers.
Loyola did not want the firing of coaches to be the story as it would have interfered with the Norville reopening.
It was a very humiliating experience. This occurred before Steve Watson became AD several months later so it was under the old regime.
However, by that time Grace Calhoun was gone as well.
