Porter Moser has apparently replaced the former Loyola Md coach as the new head coach of Siena. How did we miss this?

The MVC adds Loyola just as the coach who made the program viable took the Siena job.

I really hope that this is not true! Why would PM leave Loyola for Siena?

Obviously...

Our program is not viable.

This brings up a larger question though. I think that what's been holding back our university (not just in athletics) is our name, and the fact that we share it with three other universities: Loyola Maryland, Loyola New Orleans, and Loyola Marymount. It gives the Loyolas as a group a sort of cheesy franchise feel, and dilutes the brand name.

I think as part of the Reimagine Campaign, serious thought should be given to rebranding the university by adopting a new name that would distinguish us from all the other Loyolas.
St. Ignatius University comes to mind.

The Four Loyolas !! Actually mos people in Hoops know the real Loyola--'cept those Eastern scribes who really know not much--as proven by the uninformed Athlon piece !!
To differentiate if we must--I do not feel we have to--we could go the Ohio St way--you know--THE Loyola University of Chicago--or just THE Loyola University.

I would say that we are the oldest Loyola University, but Maryland went from Loyola College to Loyola University Maryland. They are the oldest Loyola University.

Loyola University Chicago is the largest enrollment Jesuit University in the United States, more than Georgetown, San Francisco, Boston College, Santa Clara, St. Louis, or Gonzaga. Loyola in Chicago has thousands more students than Loyola New Orleans and Loyola Maryland combined, or Loyola Marymount and Loyola Maryland combined. Loyola has more prominent alumni than Loyola Marymount, Loyola Maryland, and Loyola New Orleans COMBINED. Loyola Chicago has a larger endowment than any other school with Loyola in its name, and has distinguished itself both academically and athletically.

Therefore, I submit that ignorance about Loyola should be attributed solely to the ignorant dumbass grunts that stupidly confuse things, and not to the general public that is sometimes misinformed by the ignorant morons that masquerade as informed reporters. I mean, come on--- there's this thing called Wikipedia that can make you look a lot less stupid most of the time.

P.S. We were known as St. Ignatius College until 1921, 13 years or so after we moved to Rogers Park.

I am old enough to remember the old days and have always thought whenever Loyola was mentioned that they meant the Ramblers. Did not even know there were others until Loyola Marymount started getting some notoriety. Loyola sounds good to me just as it is and I would not add a qualifier because it would seem to diminish your proud name. It would be like being in the unc system where everyone is unc something. However you could go the route of The Ohio State as was mentioned previously and that sounds classy but Wichita State tried that about 20 years ago and did not launch well. It still draws a smile and a shake of the head by many whenever it is mentioned. Good luck

I'd be happy if we were just known as Loyola Chicago. Especially on ESPN and other scores websites, which for some reason uses Loyola (IL).
