Would Harris be one of the last covid-year guys, or is this contingent on some new eligibility rule from the NCAA (like Saint Thomas is banking on).

Good question. He played 25 games freshman year (20-21) at Gonzaga, 13 games soph year (22-23) at Gonzaga, 24 games (23-24) at Loyola Marymount and 11 games senior year (24-25) at UCLA. I think he was out 21-22 season with an injury. So he's been around for five seasons and has played in four. Not quite sure how he has eligibility, but I gave up trying to understand the rules.

As best I can tell:

2020-21: Covid year, didn't count.
2021-22: Medical redshirt (per UCLA bio)
2022-23: First year that counts (Gonzaga)
2023-24: Second year (LMU)
2024-25: Third year (UCLA)
2025-26: final year remaining

Seems like a great addition. Glad we'll have some more shooting on the team.

OK so I think this is where I get confused -- 19-20 and 20-21 both count as "covid years", but you only get one extra for having played in either of them?

That must be it... so if you used at least one year of eligibility within those two seasons, you get a super-senior year?

Honest thoughts on every portal exit/entrance.

Deywilk Tavarez: Really like this pick up. This fills an offensive need that next year's team needed to fill some shoes in. Hoping his success in the CAA transfers to the A10 well.

Dominick Harris: This is probably the biggest wild card we picked up. Was a fantastic shooter at LMU, but struggled to see the court at UCLA and Gonzaga. Did a little digging and it seems like there was a bit of tension during his time at UCLA with their coach. I could see him coming in and being an elite shooter/player at the A10 level and I could also see him with a very limited role based on UCLA/Gonzaga splits. Interested to see how he does next year.

Kayde Dotson: Everyone "in the know" seems to be saying this was a steal. Did not see very much of a role at New Mexico but it seems like they definitely wanted him back. Expecting him to be strong off the bench.

Xavier Amos: This was the grand slam pick up. Very good size and skill set for the A10 and he's coming from a Wisconsin team that was a 3 seed and just had a few guys ahead of him. Really good on tape and I've seen a lot of Wisco fans that are sad to see him go/a few even saying they expected him to start there next year. Him and Miles together could be fantastic to watch.

Josh Ola-Joseph: I'm personally expecting him to pretty much be a near replica of Nwaokorie (They're the same height/frame and even from the same town in MN). There is a little more upside possibility here in that he has started games at the P5 level for 3 years now. Solid pick up

Alexander Richardson: One thing I've learned about international players is that it's very hard to predict how they will translate to NCAA play. It's probably best to go into with not extremely high expectations and just hopes he can fill a good bench role for Miles.

Jayden Dawson: Really happy for him that he is getting the chance to play at the P5 level. Really not thrilled to see it's at KU, for a few reasons. 1. For whatever reason, transfer players to KU have just not flourished like they were expected to. I'm not sure exactly what the deal is for that. And 2. He is already slotted behind the #1 HS recruit in the country, Melvin Council from SBU, and an Illinois transfer. I really was hoping he would transfer into a program where he could definitely showcase his skills, but I'm really hoping he makes waves next year.

Jalen Quinn: Bummed to see him go. Beyond his increasing development as a player, I think he was a guy that just repped LUC well. I am fully confident he is going to be one of the top guys in the MVC next year at Drake.

Jack Turner: I mean this with no disrespect to Jack because I think he is actually going to be solid at Oral Roberts, but I never saw it working out with him at LUC. Even in his HS tapes he just seemed undersized and had a rather strange shot release. I'm happy he's going somewhere where he has the chance to be an impact player instead of sitting on the bench here.

Seifeldin Hendawy: Something was weird here lol. I had people telling me last summer before the season even started that he was not going to be back for a year 2. I personally still LOVE his size for his position and see some serious potential for him to be really good, but he was just never given the chances on the court. I don't think we'll ever fully know what was going on with Seif while here but my honest prediction is that he'll pull a Saint Thomas and kill it at the low major level before transferring to P5.

Bonus Jacob Patrick (The German who backed out): Much happier with Harris coming in instead. Patrick looked good on defense but his offensive numbers made me quite nervous. It's also always a question mark with how international player's play translates and how they acclimate to the college ball landscape generally.

Looking forward to seeing these guys next year!

Excellent evaluations Rambler21.

This could have the makings of a very good team. New roster’s got some serious depth too. Unlike last year’s newcomers and how it took so long for all parts to start working together, I don’t feel that way this offseason considering the massive roster turnover all throughout the A10. Big time P5 experience and scoring ability is incoming between Dotson, Tavarez, Amos, Harris…. And healthy Moore. New guys better learn the defensive schemes quickly. Ola should fit in nicely in this regard.

Same thoughts that Dominick Harris could turn out better for us than Jacob Patrick, even if just for 1 year if that’s all the eligibility left. This guy has to be talented to have had opportunities with Zags and UCLA. I wouldn’t want to play for Mick Cronin either - so hope Drew and staff are able to get him going and regain confidence, and no more bad luck injury. That would be quite something.

If Richardson at worst does not work out (European big men never have here in my 20+ years of paying attention) I feel okay to good that we have Brayden Young as next backup/insurance policy. If he’s stuck around this far and is purposely being prepped and polished for the near future, he could still turn into something nice, and I’m curiously anxious to see him play some limited minutes, if that.

Importantly, feels like we’re a deeper, more offensively talented than past few years.

Don't mean to be harsh about this, but getting Harris at the expense of Patrick should be a great exchange. In his one year at Loyola Marymount he was super productive. Maybe he just gets extra juice by having "Loyola" on his jersey. Hitting .448% from the 3 on high volume shooting is something to covet. He's also a spectacular athlete who can be a lockdown defender. Golden days are ahead!!!

Total speculation, but do you think Rubin's brother will walk-on here? I have not seen anything about him.

Interesting question. No idea what his plans are, but he was obviously pretty talented coming out of high school. I remember he was not quite as tall as Miles (maybe an inch or two shorter), but he was a much better outside shooter. Then he got injured, if I remember correctly. Not sure how much that plays into all of it, but it seemed like he had great potential.

I doubt it. If that was the plan, I’m sure it would have come together quickly after Miles recommitted to the program.

Plus, Wes shared his practice film on Twitter. I’m sure he is looking for an opportunity for playing time. Still a D1 talent, but he might need to go down a level if so
