Accoding to kenpom.com, Loyola is one of the least luckiest teams in Division I. Call them "The Dour Dozen," the 12 least luckiest teams in college basketball. Loyola came in at #340 in luck out of the 351 teams in D1. Here are the 12 least luckiest:

This time of year? I'd almost rather be lucky. But over the span of several years i'd prefer to be good. Have to wonder if we're due for some luck next season.

This is ONE time I hated to be proven correct---I wrote away back while that we surely were an unlucky team--This only proves that we with any good luck at all . our record now might well be 21-10 !!

Oh and BTW 25 and others have written that we lost State funds==Well. that is what happens when you deal with the DEVIL (STATE) -- Private School ?? Not so much !! Pity !!!

I'd certainly like to be luckier than that.

I think good and lucky are subjective, but I think I'd rather be good than what this list considers unlucky. From the limited viewings I've had of Indiana (including a big rivalry game last night vs. Purdue), I think they fall less in the "unlucky" category and more in the "super-talented yet massive pile of hot garbage" category. Granted, I haven't watched a ton of IU this year and for the record I don't think Loyola under-performs nearly as much as the Hoosiers.

Edit: Georgetown too. Unlucky is not 3 turnovers in the final 2 minutes of the game and what the hell was that last possession last night? Worse than us at SIU.

The Ramblers luck is based on Porter's belief that offensive rebounding is of no value. Remember that over 80% of all college games are won by the team who wins 2 of 3 stats. Turnovers,Rebounds,andFG%. Porter concedes a portion of one of these factors before the game starts. What would LU's record be with just 2 more possessions a game?

I'm not completely disagreeing with you, but we've been going for offensive rebounds a good amount this year. It's not the whole team, and it's not the entire game, but I've definitely noticed more fighting for offensive rebounds, and it doesn't feel as lopsided as past years. I hope Krutwig and Negron will help us get over the hump in this area.

In regards, to the poll, I put good. I think good teams can create luck, but lucky teams can't change its talent. Over the long run, a good team will stay good, but a lucky team will regress to their mean, and I hope we get some good bounces this weekend to even things out.

I think during the season you'd like to be 70% good and 30% lucky. For the next three games, I'd like to be very, very, very lucky.

While I don't disagree that our lack of size hurts our chances of getting to the board it's worth noting we've kept the offensive rebounds close in several games that we lost. I also agree with tank; we've been going for them in spurts.

@Wichita- Plus 3
@Evansville- Even
@SIU- Minus 1

Then at a game like UNI you can point to a free throw disparity of 30 to 8.

We rank 342 out of 347 in offensive rebounding. Its not a lack of size or talent, it is a coaching philosophy that its better to get back and stop a possible fast break than to get a rebound for another chance at a score.
