It was announced today that the men's basketball team is launching a new initiative--a fan club through the newly-created NBC Sports Athlete Direct. Looks like we are the first team to have this campaign with NBC. Saw a few players tweeting and promoting it today. Looks like the benefits include an autographed team photo, access to a members-only podcast and a 'virtual' meet & greet with the team. I'll be interested to see if more benefits pop up and/or they create some type of "tier" system. I've been wanting Loyola to do a bit more on the NIL front and looking for ways to support the players (other than buying jerseys I'll never wear...). I know some people are against it, but it is the path forward and just the way things are now. Listening to the podcast now. It's a really well-done piece of content. It's a video of Golden, Schweiger, Welch and Alston sitting around talking about a whole range of topics--their thoughts on the current season, the A10 vs MVC, Twitter chatter on the team, life around campus, etc. Really recommend it. |
