Pride to St. Bonaventure. Not surprised we didn’t get him, but surprised the Bonas did. Time to make him regret it next year

So much for all the noise around him coming to LU. Wonder what happened. Agreed that it is surprising he picked Bonnie's. Thought Minnesota became the favorite when they got really involved and he took a visit.

Oh well, one spot left.

Bonnies is close to home...often a factor.

6’8, averaged about 17.2 pts, 6.4 rebs, 2.5 ast, at the D2 level. Nova also won the D2 national championship last season. Assuming he only has 1 year of eligibility.

Not getting Pride it’s not as bad as it seems. As a guard, him coming in would have most likely led to one of our other guys jumping in the portal, and I wouldn’t wanna lose anybody we have for a 1 year guy.

The NEED is a 6’9”+ guy. We get that, and we are in business.

Sunahara would be a great one year fix. He fits our previous player profile of recruiting winners. Good size, athletic kid.

The West Virginia Mountaineers already have the #1 transfer class in college basketball, but they are not done yet!

In fact, Bob Huggins and his staff are in hot pursuit of one player in particular, RJ Sunahara. That last name might sound familiar, as he is the son of current West Virginia volleyball coach Rex Sunahara and brother of former West Virginia punter Rex Sunahara.

Sunahara, a 6’8 redshirt junior, is the reigning Division II National Player of the Year, leading the Nova Southeastern Sharks to a Division II National Championship this past season.

Sunahara averaged 18.9 points, 5.4 rebounds while leading the Sharks in blocks and is the all-time leader in program in block shots, second in Shark Men’s basketball history in points (1,579) and field goals (594), and sixth all-time in rebounds.

In other words, Sunahara is an absolute beast and was clearly the best player in Division II basketball last season. With that said, the Mountaineers are maxed out on scholarships, particularly if Jimmy Bell returns, and will have to find a way to make bringing Sunahara home to West Virginia.

Seems like just the kind of guy we needed to round this roster out! Minutes are going to be hard to come by next year. That's a good thing. Lots of real talent on the roster.

Although it's not completely over (guys on our squad still have time to enter the portal), this has been a really good offseason for Drew on paper, especially after such a difficult season.
