I know it's easy to say after a game we shot over 40%, but I really don't mind chucking 3s that much, as 88 noted, they are usually open. And anytime Sheldon, Jayden or Des (or Francis for that matter) passes up an open three, it's very unlikely we end up getting a better shot.
We have so many possessions that end with Des trying to force himself to the basket under heavy resistance, and those have been very very low percentage attempts thus far. Posting up with our bigs haven't been net positives either. When our initial set doesn't create anything easy, I'd much rather see us jacking up open threes than waiting around and reverting to either of those -- the rebound % is at least way higher off of 3s, and we are actually shooting 35% from 3 in A10 play, good for 3rd place.
I would see them try to iso JQ at the end of the shot clock though, he's much better at actually getting around his guy than Des or a gimpy Dawson. He just has to lose the bad habit of panicking and throwing the ball away when the help defender arrives, which he is getting better at but still does too often. That's what I would have drawn up at the end of regulation, instead of yet another awkward Des drive into 2 defenders (he actually passed up an open 3 before doing so, which would have been a better choice).
