Another example of why I am so disgusted--Back in the day when we played anybody ANYWHERE and generally beat them, we played at team at Alumni Hall in late forties--I sat in my usual head nbumping spot and watched as the RAMBLERS took apart Nationally ranked VILLANOVA --who had an All America big name of Paul Arizon (sp) --to the tune of 75-40 something--We blitzed them as we did a lot of teams in those days.
AND one wonders why I feel as I do when we cannot beat Mo St and Asheville ???? --
AND BTW the HALL was jammed to the limit with folks !!

I want to see Loyola succeed in the worst way. I just don't know how that happens with Tom Kelly (no experience) in charge and with an AD (seems like a very nice guy) and his key staff with ZERO Chicago ties. I guess it might happen but those are pretty long odds from an Administrative point of view.
From a coaching point of view I don't think he needs to have Chicago ties. Most players don't want to be here in Chicago. Their families want to see them leave and break whatever cycle has persisted in their families.
I'm not sold on a practice gym. I watch Butler get to the title game twice without one and one of the crappiest locker rooms you would ever see.
Our best hope is that Loyola's new president sees what an undervalued asset Athletics are and becomes directly involved to ensure its success. That would be a MAJOR culture change for the university considering the President never had the department reporting directly to his office.
