Well, I don't know what that's based on, but okay.

I will be happy if (what we believe to be) our last spot for the 2014 class goes to O'Mara or JayQuan McCloud.

Class of 2014 Benet Academy center Sean O’Mara is among the top post prospects in the Midwest. He is a skilled center that can score with his back to the basket with a variety of moves and is a plus passer. Earlier in the week O’Mara narrowed his list to six finalists. They are Loyola, Xavier, Wake Forest, Wichita State, Seton Hall, and UMass.

Last weekend O’Mara took a visit to one of those finalists in Wake Forest. He spoke with us about how his visit to the Demon Deacons went.

“It’s a really nice campus, great academics, and the players were good guys. I got to play in an open gym and really get a feel for what it would be like playing at Wake Forest.”

How does he feel he would potentially fit into their system?

“They play very similar to my AAU program and use two big guys on the floor, exploit mismatches, and get out in transition. So as long as I run the floor, use my passing, and low post moves in the half court I think it’s a great system.”

He has two more official visits lined up to Loyola September 8th and 9 [/u]and Xavier September 15th and 16th. O’Mara ran with IBA Select on the circuit throughout his prep career.

Verbal Commits has upgraded Sean O'Mara's interest level in Loyola from Medium to High from an ESPN report. Among O'Mara's stated six schools he has narrowed his choice among, only Loyola and Xavier are rated High interest. O'Mara is the only 2014 player Loyola has offered at the Center position; Xavier is looking at three players besides O'Mara in their recruiting pipeline, including a 7'2" 4-star recruit from Connecticut who's getting a lot of ACC and Big East offers.

My hopes are officially too high.

That's very exciting news!!!

If we can get a commitment from O'Mara, it would definitely help us attract higher caliber players in the future.

Also, if O'Mara signs with Loyola, I'll make a commitment to purchase at least two season tickets for the next two years.

Sean...if you read this...choose Loyola! You will not regret it! It's a wonderful university located in the best city in the world.

Just an FYI if you haven't seen it. Sean O'Mara talks about his recent visit to Wichita State. Personally, I think we're on the outside looking in for him, but he'd fit in great in Wichita I believe. We definitely have PT available for a young post next year as we'll only return two. One will be a SR PF in Darius Carter and the other will be a SO C/PF in Shaq Morris. I have a feeling you guys are in the lead for him. Wouldn't look forward to playing against him for 4 years

I think basketball is probably the biggest consideration, but if he wants to major in engineering, he won't be able to do that at Loyola, as we don't have an engineering program.

That's good for us then. We have a very respected engineering program. We work pretty closely with the aircraft industry around here and have a few grads at NASA. I don't know how all the different engineering programs work within each other as I'm an accounting major.
