Seriously? UNI has been blowing everybody in the league out by as many points as we lost by. That's without mentioning the fact that we are still without our best player. People complaining about us being in the league is getting old.

Their arguments are terrible. Sure, we draw poorly...that tends to happen when the school ignores the flagship program for 20+ years.

Whatever. That board is a cesspool. I warned folks about it last year. The people who post there are miserable trolls. Let them bitches all they want.

Right on. Just keep winning games and everything will even out.

Didn't catch the game, but here's an excerpt from the AP article:
For all the strides the Ramblers are making, there still is a big gap between them and conference powers Wichita State and Northern Iowa.

"There's such a winning mentality when you play those two teams," Loyola coach Porter Moser said. "The other team makes a run, you always just see them not panic. You see the physical competitiveness. They're well coached. Both teams have a lot of veterans.

"I sense, too, when I play both of those teams they're just at a different level than everybody else."

Agree with Porter's comments. UNI has a very experienced team. They start 3 seniors, a junior, and a sophomore. Off the bench, 2 seniors and a junior. Those guys have been there before and know how to win games, even if they're not playing well (best player last night had well below his avg and 5 TOs). They'll be a tough out come tourney time. I do hope that in the future Loyola can build this type of personnel consistency. Two guys will graduate but avoiding the transfer bug and bringing everybody else back will be big.

As for now, I agree with John. LU can get that 6th place spot and if it's Evansville in the first round I like the odds.

Couple things
1. We did play good defense last night.
2. We got killed on 2nd chance points....my guess is that because we were double teaming Tuttle we had a hard time getting a body on everyone to rebound
3. We were very anxious on offense ....shot poorly( colder than the weather),,,,,no inside presence.......turned it over. They double teamed our shooters
4. Lot o the point spread came in the last couple minutes/
5. lots of small town, small town people in the MVC.....country mouse vs city mouse.
6. It is difficult to play two post players because of the ball screen offense we run.
7. I think Rajala is going to be a player as he beefs up and gets used to the more physical style of play.
8. ANyone know what the story is with Knuth???
9. Got a funny feeling that Doyle wil not be back till the TOurnament and maybe not at all this season. Just a feeling
10. I have a good feeling about the tournament.

Well Skatey, I must agree you hit it really well--not just because I agree with you, but because it is what it is. We have a Good team but we are far too short-That and our injuries are hurting us badly--
--Milton--if not back this week-end I am inclined to forget about him this year. Sad to write this, but I have , to quote you, this feeling.
--MVC people--I don't know-small vs big town-- I, for one cannot wait to revisit beautiful downtown--oh! pick an MVC town !!! Yeah ! Right !!
--Tourney--Without Milton. we are dead. (a point of disagreement )
--Knuth--If Knuth has something similar to the lost January I had--severe sinus infection plus a dash of what Dr Alexia called "walking pneumonia". he is gone for some days--He is far younger of course but....
---Off night shooting ?? Well, Panthers have a way of doing that to teams.

---I am still skeptical of the refs--Remember , we are the new kids--Not an excuse , just what I see.

Final word--I am truly sick of losing---one bad thing after another--Maybe with some bigs coming in plus Rajala , we will assume our rightful place, which of course is--top of MVC--

A thought--some of our MVC partners despised Creighton--now they are taking after us--I wonder ..
Another thought--Our students are looking like spoiled kids--Cannot walk a block or two to follow a fine team ??? Shame on them !!

Welcome back to the board, Dave! Aren't you from Indiana.... anyway I'm pretty sure you could bring a cooler into Gentile if you wanted to.

There is a lot of pride in small town living and there is something to be said for it in a positive way. Less traffic, know people personally. Well, those are two, let me think. I know those two from a smaller town in Wisconsin where I have a summer home.
But there is also the side that is a little less attractive. Because there are fewer options there is a greater focus on those fewer options.
My neighbor had a son who took a varsity head basketball coaching job in a small central Illinois town. High school had maybe 300 students. They had a very good basketball team with only nine or so players. Everyone who went out made the team. Well this young man took the job and kept up the tradition and had two twenty plus win seasons and advancement into the tourney with a win or two as well. Then, the team changed conferences which were at a higher level. Had an under 500 season and was mercilessly harassed in the town so he quit his teaching job and moved.
Reminded me of the movie Hoosiers when Hackman ran into the small town mentality or Friday night lights the Texas football movie and series.
We at Loyola are in the big bad ass city of Chicago and some, not all, will resent us no matter what.
So pay know mind. Or as Anthony Hopkins said when he played the part of Colonel Ludlow in the movie Legends of the Fall, "Screw em!"
There is always going to be some fear of that outsider who could upset the status quo.
So, lets just mind our own business and let that take care of things and not worry about the words of small minds.
