Just checking the weather forecast for Normal and they report expecting 3-5 in. of snow tonight (Friday) with possibly another inch or two tomorrow. Any weather and/or road reports would be greatly appreciated.

There's a huge band of snow between Normal and Carbondale, and it's rain south of Carbondale to Memphis. Looking out the window, we've got a dusting that doesn't cover the grass. It other words, Bloomington-Normal is right at the northern edge of the snow with a few stray flurries falling-- at least as of now. I'll update midday Saturday. Having driven back and forth between Chicago and Normal once or twice a week for several years, I know that they're very good about keeping I-55 clear. But since the storm is south of Bloomington-Normal, it should't be a problem.

When I was making a drive, I used this site ( https://www.travelmidwest.com/lmiga/home.jsp )for extremely accurate road conditions and travel times down through just past I-80. Check it before you leave, and you can click on the camera icons to get a video of traffic and conditions.

Here is a valuable but slightly less accurate map for road conditions on the rest of the Interstates in Illinois:

As of this writing, the bad weather begins just south of Bloomington-Normal.

Looks like the bad weather is south and east of Normal. Should be clear sailing down I-55!

The dusting from this morning has melted... it's 36 right now. Still overcast, though.
