I don't know if people are aware of this, but following a certain incident, Calhoun banned Athletic Department employees from posting on Ramblermania.
I assume they can still read it though.
I miss B...
As much as Sports Information people (and their supervisors in the Athletic Department) don't like it, it is nearly impossible to have a modern Division I athletic program without a thriving message board disseminating information that needs to be known by fans and supporters. I can't think of a single example where a Division I program has thrived in this environment without some sort of well-guided outlet for fans. Well-funded and well-staffed attempts have been made by official organizations to circumvent the message board phenomenon over and over again, but they've fallen flat. Remember when the MCC/Horizon tried it?
The reason I came back to this role is because I couldn't stand the idea that Loyola's move to the MVC might be stunted by a disorganized and insufficient effort to fit in to the fan interaction that makes the MVC such a great conference. I've been through it before, and I know what to expect.
By the way, has everyone with a free Twitter account followed @RamblersMVC? If not, why haven't you joined yet?
Anyway, I have been a big mouth about Loyola doing something dramatic, like joining another conference, for years. It would be cowardly and cheap in character if I didn't do something substantial to help make it successful.
