It was only a matter of time. Two years and two weeks after Loyola leaves the Horizon League, Jon LeCrone announces the conference tournament is being changed to a neutral site event.

http://www.horizonleague.org/blog/olymp ... ampionship

What happened to "rewarding the teams with the best regular season?" What happened to "making the event look good on TV" with home games and a built-in audience? What happened to "making the regular season mean something?" What happened to protecting the NCAA seeds of the conference champions? Apparently, all those exigencies are now moot without pampered Butler and red-haired stepchild Loyola in the league.

Good Lord, I despise the Horizon League.

I was just coming to post this.

What a joke. I hope we can save Detroit from that mess of a conference soon.

I'm surprised that they signed a five-year deal for that. Wants to go to Detroit? They would've been better off waiting and signing a deal for Depaul's new arena

Well . my take on Toledo's comment--
--The Five year Detroit deal just could be 'political' in nature--Anything to help Detroit's maybe recovery--

--It would go against De Pewl's very nature to share !! It has always been , in this city of Chgo , about DPU--ALWAYS ! Back in the day, DPU thought they were it--and still do for that matter. Except of course for that ONE glorious year--and even then the Media did not REALLY give LUC its due.

WEll. I for one one believe we ARE changing that--We will soon be atop the VALLEY and they, new stadium and all will STILL be the dregs of whatever conference has them.

I wonder what the new 10-team tournament format will look like - the rumor is that Northern Kentucky U will be joining the HL this season.
