A lot of good from the game:

We were clearly the better team.
When we had to score points and put pressure on, we did.
It never felt like we were going to lose.
We hit free throws.

Bad:

Big leads seemed to lead to becoming complacent, which led to sloppy play and letting them back into the game. You can get away with it in games like this, but can't do that against better teams.

Not bad for openers !! Now then , clean up on down low defense and we will be just fine. Milton was superb as always helped nicely by Earl with the usual timely 3s form you know who. We shot well and did hit our freebies--James just plainly plays his head off. Work to do , but PM will iron things out.

It was a bit shocking that we came out running and then slowed it down. Could have been UTSA adjusting. Could have been poor execution. It seems that our strength comes from running...half court offense struggled a bit.

Also seemed that this was a learning game for both teams regarding the new fouls. Was inconsistent game by the officials but seemed to be that way for both teams.

Can't keep letting up... Not all of our opponents will turn the ball over a ton

Did you notice how Milton just plays the game. When we go into trouble, he reacted. The nine points in the first half were noticeable --You hardly saw the eleven 2nd half points--BUT THEY WERE THERE , when we needed them.
Good opener, but as GO says our upcoming opponents will be tougher, but then so will we.

Kirby looked pretty good--He was late down low on one play that I saw. Hopefully the MANIACS that were there will confirm or add to it. Earl and Ben are good to have around.

Agreed. This game mirrored the exhibition in a lot of ways. Started on fire running, then got sloppy once things were slowed down.

The start to the 2nd half was a head-scratcher too...nothing was working. But credit to the guys for making plays every time the lead shrank.

Does anyone know how many traveling violations UTSA had? I mean, I'm glad that was actually enforced, but it was getting almost comical for them.

I decided the watch this game this morning. Great thing about ESPN3 is I can go back and watch the other Valley teams play if I so choose. Curious to watch a few of the others.
