Hopefully, we'll learn from this game. I would have thought we'd know from our earlier meeting with Toledo that we had to play solid defense throughout and control the tempo, but the lesson didn't take. We were behind and lackluster early against San Diego, too. Taking care of the ball has got to be a bigger priority. And we need some plays to get some high percentage shots inside.
Speaking of which, I wonder if we're going to see any contribution from Kirby this year, as we all hoped and thought. He didn't even get into the game at all. Rajala had 11 (scoreless) minutes with three rebounds, a steal, and a block. Donte Ingram took six shots, but five of them were three pointers. I know Boothe and Navigato are a pretty good inside defensive combo, but Rajala, Ingram and Montel James scored only five two pointers between them. And our success attacking the basket quickly in the late going might be something we look for more often earlier in games.
