This 2nd half is really bad.

Frustrating is about the only word I can think of to describe this game. Notre Dame isn't a great team, we had opportunities to stay in it, but just a lot of stupid unforced turnovers and numerous open shots missed.

Shitty second half. On the bright side, Tyson Smith is starting to look real good!

I had hoped we'd keep them from getting to 80. They even brought in guys off the bench who haven't played five games this year to help us out with that. If you told me that we'd hold Zach Auguste and Demetrius Jackson to a combined 18 points, I'd think we'd be winners. But we let their outside shooters go nuts, and we got completely stymied by the zone.

Well, guys I must say that I had high hopes for this team especially because of last year. I did NOT feel that we would beat ND at theirplace, but until yjey prove to the contrary, I mst say I rate these RAMBLERS on the basis of our poor play in Alaska especially vs Ashville. We may have overachieved last season. I felt we would be 7-2 at this point--We are not--Sad to say !

I wonder when the last time we didn't score a point from the free throw line (0 for 3) might have been.

Three freebies !! Just another reason why ACC and others beat so-called "lesser" teams !! Will ND come to our place ?? Not on your life !! We now MUST win and win and win !! I doubt this team will do it, but we are slowly--ever so slowly rising. Next move is to spring an upset or two in conference.

Go Ramblers--Get a move on !!!

Hopefully we get information soon on what is going on with Montell James. We were able to escape with a win against Creighton without him, but it is obvious that we are going to need his inside presence for the rest of the season. if we don't have him, we are going to have to just have to rely on on our ability to get hot with outside shooting -- and I definitely don't want to bet our season on that.

Rajala looks like he's trying in there, but he just doesn't have the strength, experience or ability to compete and be effective down low. I was hoping we would have saw him put a little weight or a little muscle on in the off-season, but unfortunately he still looks really weak out there.

From a scoring perspective, this is probably one of the worst outings I've seen from Doyle. it's tough to get down on him for this game since he was able to dish the ball so well, but it would have been nice for him to step up and hit some shots to stop their runs early in the second half. I think we've become used to having him carry the team offensively, or sparking the team when they start to go into a slump.

While the score doesn't look great, I take heart in knowing that we played a bad HALF and not a bad GAME. We were still very much there at the end of the second half and the beginning of the second. We just hit a wall and were not able to recover.

Hopefully we are learning things from our non-conference schedule and can start to game-plan and figure out away to win for conference play. I'm not giving up on these guys yet. We struggled last year too and managed to get 20+ wins.

Just back from the game. We had a great continent of fans. I heard we had about 125 in our section, plus 100 behind our bench and more scattered through the arena.

Joyce center is a really great venue. It was shocking to me to see ushers who welcomed us to the game and went out of their way to be helpful ;)

As for the game... it was a great first half. I was surprised we struggled so much against the zone. They got a couple quick turnovers (an area we have improved greatly the past two games) to build the lead to double digits. I wish we had attacked the zone more. We did a good job of getting it to the high post, but we didn't do much with it from there.

Nice games from Tyson and Milt. Can't complain about 9 assists and 2 turnovers. Donte had probably his best game of the year.

Was at today's game. Great experience and having had a few hours to think it over, here's my take on today.
It is nice to compete at this level, even tho it is obvious what work needs to get done. I continue to be proud of this team, confident in the coach and staff, and optimistic that we will see continued improvement and success. I think that we need an inside presence that can catch an entry pass and put it up for the in the paint points. I saw several attempts to beat the zone defense with interior passing, most of which went for naught with no points or fouls called. ND had fifteen free throws made to LU's 1!.
Doyle especially has a gift for setting up other players, and they need to complete the play. When they do not, turnovers result and frustration builds to where we find the guys shooting jumpers early in the shot clock with no one under the basket for offensive rebounds. Then the game changes and we start pressing, etc. It seems that all of our big guys are works in progress, at least we have three of them to spread the fouls around. Tyson looks very promising, confident shooter and not afraid to drive the lane. I like his shooting form, seems pure. So many shots rattled around and did not fall today, yet the stats are fairly even at the end of the day. The discrepancy in fouls called, free throws made, and turnovers ultimately decided this game. I thought the team chemistry continues to improve, but still not obvious, as there were many situations with the wrong guy having the ball at key moments in the shot clock. So, on to next week and soon conference play. I look to see the guys get it together, have no doubt they work as hard as anyone and the results will come.
Go Ramblers.
