Dr. Pelissaro is indeed a candidate as is Father Justin Daffron who also is a supporter of the Athletic Department. No decision has been made on Jesuit or non Jesuit, internal or external. All on good authority. Interviews in April.

I like John, and he certainly knows Loyola. I do think the university needs someone who can put the correct people in place and reorganize some of the departments to be more effective. If Daffron is president I would never set foot on campus again. I don't know many people who don't think he is aloof and arrogant. The quote I hear most often is 'he thinks he's the smartest guy in the room'. My experience is that he's only nice and cordial to me when he wants something.
The guy that should be the front runner is Father Chris Devron

He's a Chicago guy and a true leader. We would see a profound change in the way the university is run and how its connects to its community. I was disappointed when he was on the search committee because this is the guy.

Are you saying the fact that Devron is on the search committer precludes him from being considered a candidate?

Loyola just sent out an email saying that Fr. Daffron will be leaving on May 13 "at the request of the provincial of the Central and Southern Province of the Society of Jesus." So I'm guessing that probably means that he won't be the next president.

What exactly does he is leaving at the request of the request of the Society of Jesus mean? Anyone have any ideas?

Well, "at the request of " a high up Jesuit office holder, it has been my experience here in Akron/ Cleveland , that this NOT GOOD. I hesitate to discuss the experience here , but it WAS a huge disappointment to us here at St H.

IF the Jesuit in question was the one making the move, it might be altogether different---Retirement comes to mind.

86 surely must be on to something here.

Just a guess, but I take this to mean that he is from the South/Central Jesuit province and is being recalled there. It says to me simply that the move was not initiated by Loyola or the Chicago-Detroit province.

Wow Scream, this is just about what happened to the Jesuit here in Akr/Cle . some years ago==John Carroll did not initiate my example--It was ordered by his home province !!--I just mention this because of the similarity nothing more nothing less.

I was over at a Georgetown mass on Saturday at Madonna. I was told expect an announcement early next week. It won't be a collar.
