There will never be any real evidence, but seems a lot of guys are dinged up. That's not uncommon for this time of year, but I wonder what kind of impact the transition of the training staff will have (hoops and other sports).

Speaking of which, MVC Preseason First Team player Simone Law didn't play at all in the women's exhibition.

I think Pam Zeckman should investigate the connection between the apparent rash of injuries and the Athletic Department's decision to contract out the athletic training function as a cost-cutting measure.

This has local Emmy written all over it. Here's the lead: "Is Athletic Director M. Grace Calhoun jeopardizing the health and safety of Rambler athletes just to save a few bucks?"

Yeah, we'll see. I'm not really trying to start a debate or anything but it's something to keep an eye on. Maybe I've got an interest because I'm somebody who spent more time than anybody ever should with the training staff.

Hope Doyle was just kept out as a precaution for a minor injury, which I'd applaud. Rather keep a key player out of an exhibition game to get him healthy for one that counts - especially a young guy that hasn't been through a college season. Playing through an injury early in the year is dumb and can stay with you all season or longer, not to mention get much worse.

Just my two cents. I wouldn't go overboard with the negativity just because you lost to a DII. It happens every year and it doesn't mean the end of the world. Syracuse lost one I don't remember how many years ago anymore, but I think they ended up doing quite well come March that same season.

These games are to get your feet wet against another team and learn a few things. Losing is never fun, but hopefully they see what they did wrong on film and learn and adjust going forward. You should have a better picture of things by the end of the month as that will give the team some time to adjust. They are still kind of young.

Here's to hoping the next game has a better showing.

As swella once said, "This was a well thought out and rational post, and as such it has no place on Ramblermania."
