Ugh. Should be back in time for the start/a little after the start of conference play.

This is really crappy news. Donte was having such a great start to the season. He's averaging 9.6 points, leading the team with 5.6 rebounds per game, has more assists than turnovers despite playing most of his time in traffic, and hitting 9 for 19 on threes. He was having such a huge leap up from a somewhat disappointing sophomore year. I hope he's stronger and well-rested and doesn't lose any of his focus when he comes back.

P.S. I'm glad that the Phoenix was able to put this news out for fans. Great job, and much appreciated.

Yikes....probably and injury at guard might have not been as devastating but this is significant. Remember the big kid we had coming in who left cuz he just wasnt comfortable???? Now that looks like a bigger deal.
So how do we adapt? Go smaller? Who gets the increased playing time? How will strategy change? How we going to rebound? Do not see Kirby as the answer, YIKES

Ingram injury announcememt on Loyola website:

http://www.loyolaramblers.com/sports/m- ... 16aac.html

It looks like JCT's little-girl-whining about Loyola not being sufficiently upfront about reporting on player injuries for his taste has had an effect!

Along the same lines, I should report that I've had a bad cold for the last week or so but I plan to continue to post through it.
The only adjustment I might make is to let GoRamblers handle both low AND medium hanging fruit.

I'm glad it's not worse, but gonna be tough without our best rebounder. Maybe Porter can figure something out?

We beat Creighton last year without Montel so hopefully we can beat SD State this year without Donte.

Here's to a quick recovery! This is a big loss and hopefully Dante comes back strong in time for the start of the MVC schedule, but I have a gut feeling that others are going to pick up the slack. I'm going with a 9 point Rambler victory.

Normally I would view this as a disaster BUT it is Not a "Chastain" Far from it !! We WILL man up against SDS and then the rest of our non conference schedule is winnable with or without Ingram--He could be ready to roll in Conf Game 2 For sure a strain is NOT a tear !!

Am not happy for Ingram though--

Was thinking the same thing; pretty sure we beat him with Pernell Adgei starting as well (does he play anywhere now?).

This injury sucks pretty hard; but long term could give Vlatko, Bruno, and Cam a lot of extra valuable playing time. I'm curious if they will slide Cam into Donte's position at times due to his length and ability to snag rebounds while still being able to bring it up court. Donte does a lot of things that don't go in the stat book particularly in how he's able to double team the post but also close out on the 3pt line so well. At least he'll be back in time and rested for conference play; he has potential to be a real force at the end of the season and certainly by his senior year.

One thing to watch out for with the newcomers replacing his time however is fouls. Cam has 16 fouls in 110 minutes and Vlatko has has 9 in 72 minutes for reference Ingram has only 10 in 222 minutes.
