So !! We go 6-2 to finish regular season ! That should be enough to get a tourney bid--Add to that a good result in the Valley tourney--say 2- 1 , That will get us a 24-19 finish if my math is correct, plenty good for the NIT or elsewhere--maybe the NCAA if the stars align !! If not, the fix will be in as it has against us in some years past.
As it stands now teams now must look to beating us--not the other way around. Why ?? Our good defense, over 50% shooting ( near 40% on 3s) both of which are superb. We also have a decent bench and FOUR conatantly good shooters --not one or two , but FOUR !!

This bunch is playing light's out and deserve a bid--Admin and Fans must get behind this gang of hearts and minds--

Believe it--Loyola of Chicago is on its way back to prominence !

Well the NIT is nearly impossible now.

I'm genuinely intrigued with how March plays out for us. On one hand, I most certainly want us to accept a CBI invite again, if only for Milt. On the other, I would be disappointed but understand from a bureaucratic standpoint why they won't want to commit that much money to it again. I also think it'll be a flash-point for Porter's future here. I doubt he'd get fired after this season, but does he shop himself for more $ both salary-wise and program-wise? And does Watson bite and give him a big extension?

There is absolutely zero reason to fire Porter. Not even a discussion. Maybe you agree with that, but I wasn't sure from your post.

For what it's worth, Watson spoke very highly of Porter at the first Season Ticket Holder get-together.

I doubt Porter would be able to find a job with more money or a bigger program at this point. While I think most of us are fans of what he's doing (55-38 over the last 3 years); i'm not sure many other fans would be happy with their school hiring a coach who (as of now) only has one CBI championship to his name. I'm sure he could make a lateral move to another mid major but I wouldn't see too much in starting over based on what he's built up here.

Now if we finish strong and make it to the tournament through St. Louis maybe that all goes out the window and another school comes looking... but as of now I think Loyola's a good fit for Porter and that Porter is a good fit for Loyola.

Personally, from what I see, Loyola should be sure to keep Porter here. I believe he is a class act, and has worked very hard to get us to this point. The fact that we are even talking about 3rd place is pretty amazing considering our short time in this conference. The recruited class and next years roster are of his making and certainly should play out nicely. He is familiar with the Valley and I think it would be a big mistake to not keep the continuity of the coach over time. The Ramblers have had some bad luck with injuries beyond his control. The players we have represent our school well and I am proud of their effort. So lets keep the culture rolling and not get too myopic on immediate results. Bottom line, reward the coach with a contract and nice salary+. He's got my full support. I hope we are so successful that he gets offers, yet will elect to stay put right here at LU. That would be the proof in the pudding of his commitment here. At some point, the players need to take the heat for lack of execution. I suspect they would all agree that they wish they had a few plays back in the course of our few really painful losses. By and large, they are fun to watch and I appreciate the effort. Hopefully the learning curve of this season will play out nicely before it is over. I think it will....
Go Ramblers.....

I'm with you 100% Ramblerguy! Porter has done a great job upgrading the talent and has a stellar recruiting class coming in next year. Not sure how everyone else feels, but I would be disappointed if Watson hasn't started the talks with Porter. We need Porter to be in a position of power as he recruits. As frustrating as that game was last night, I feel anything is possible in March ... Go Ramblers!!

I'd have to agree with Ramblerguy and Rambleon. With the exception of some bad luck last year the arrows been steadily going up each and every season. The jump to the MVC certainly hit the reset on the rebuild clock somewhat, but we adjusted so quickly after one season (it's crazy to think Milton was a horizon recruit and imagine what he would have done in that league).

I hope our non-con schedule gets raised a bit next year; but i'm very happy with the direction of this team. And I do agree you want a coach who's willing to stay when other teams come calling. I think the programs on the eve of some really great years; with some great recruits on the horizon and a potentially thrilling 2018 class. Go Ramblers.
