Wednesday, Feb. 22 is Milton Doyle's last game as a Rambler, a week from tonight as I write this. Entering the Indiana State game, he's got 1543 points, just 13 points behind Jack Kerris for 11th on the Loyola all time scoring list. With four regular season games and at least one MVC tournament game, he could possibly sore another 100 points or so, vaulting him past Carl Golston's 1625 points for 6th on Loyola's all time scoring list.

But here's the deal... he's also currently 8th in three pointers, 6th in assists, and with 461 rebounds he has a narrow, outside chance of making the 500 rebound club. Truly an all-around player. And this is all in spite of him missing almost half of one season (12 games) to injury, before he came back to help the team to a CBI title.

Another facet of his career at Loyola is the fact that he joined the Ramblers just as we were coming into the MVC, so his efforts helped to integrate Loyola into the conference and his talent helped to boost Loyola's recruiting efforts.

So let this thread be a place for fans to post their thoughts and appreciation for Milton Doyle in his last weeks as a Rambler.

What a pleasure to watch Milton grow not only as a player on the court but also as a person. On the court he was a complete team player as he not only scored and defended but passed the ball to the open man, played great defense and rebounded. He will be missed.
But he also grew as a person. I remember talking to him in Las Vegas between one of the games and he seemed rather shy and a little withdrawn But I know that Coach Moser did a great job of teaching Milton communication skills and really drawing him out of his shell. I really noticed that when he had a recent tv interview. He was extremely articulate, outgoing and was very relaxed. He has really matured into a fine young man.
His loyal mother followed his career closely and took many of the team trips such as to Las Vegas, Archmadness and Alaska.
She should be proud of her son.
THANKS MILTON FOR TRANSFERRING TO LOYOLA AND FOR BEING A GREAT PLAYER AND MORE IMPORTANT A GREAT PERSON WHO REFLECTS LOYOLA VALUES.
May you have great success in all that you do.

WELL Milton will pass Jack Kerris soon if not already. Kerris was the MAN in my time at LUC--

He should be ALL LEAGUE FIRST TEAM. He will if the voters look at ALL he has done this season--They like points scored first and foremost , but I trust they will also see his ENTIRE game---HE IS SUPERB and deserves HONORS !!

Now then I really expect him to go all out in these last three games prior to the Arch.

IF we get INGRAM AUNDRE and MILT ALL going at once with our two guards doing their thing , we WILL surprise the Valley shortly !! Even the Shockers can not guard everybody BUT it has ALL got to come together starting Sunday !!

No more lousy starts , Gang !!

RUN RAMBLERS !!

Milton was definitely a class act- representing Loyola University in fine fashion.
Congrats to him on what he accomplished on the court and more importantly in the classroom, getting his degree.
He will be missed on the court.I will always remember my #1 Milton Doyle highlight. It was at Arch Madness when he sank a 3 pointer at the buzzer to beat Bradley.
The best to him in the future.

Milton has been one of my favorite players to ever watch in a Rambler uniform. The style of unselfish play he has really put the team first. Which is hard for people to do sometimes with his type of skill level.

While his game has improved over the years, I am most proud of how his personality has evolved. He came in as a soft spoken freshman and now is leaving as a senior leader. It's a shame that he had to deal with injuries in his career but the way he overcame them really showed how mentally strong he is.

My favorite Doyle moment is also the buzzer beater at Arch Madness. I will never forget seeing that live.

Thank you Milton for all that you have done and I'm proud to call you a Rambler. Good Luck in your future career Milt but first, lets make some noise in St. Louis

Milt's the reason I became interested in Rambler basketball, and he sealed the deal when i went to Arch Madness and he sank the buzzer beater against Bradley. After that moment I rarely missed a game. But there were plenty of other moments worth mentioning as well. Going for 28-6-6 as a freshmen at home beating UNI for the first time in the Valley, single-handedly clawing us back and winning the first round of the CBI tournament against Rider as a sophomore, scoring 26 and going 6-6 from 3 and scoring 26 to bring us back against Toledo as a junior, dropping the hammer against Bradley or any of his near triple doubles this season. To echo everyone else the growth off the court is also a great testament to who he is and how he's grown.

Milt truly enhanced the program over his time here and paved the way for the next generations of Rambler greats to see this program in such a favorable light. So thank you Milt. Still more work to do! Go Ramblers!

Most appropriate thread.....I think Milton maybe the best athlete I have ever seen at LU. Sometimes his athleticism seemed to much for a small court with 9 other players on it. For me it was not just one moment it was any time he would sky to get a rebound and then eat up court racing down the floor like a car in the express lane going coast to coast.... and 6th on the assist list says it all to me....unselfish, understood the offense and skilled....Also seemed to accept whatever role the coach and team needed him to assume.
Hope everyone makes it a point to get to SENIOR NIGHT which I am assuming will be next Wednesday as the last home game. Thanks Milt

Milt joined the program the year after I graduated and is the best player I have seen on the team during my time as a fan of the program. I remember finding out that we actually were getting a Chicago area player to join the team and just freaking out. Since then its obvious that Milt was the perfect player to carry us into our transition to an MVC program and one that can compete in games and stay out of Thursday night contention. I do think its worth noting that since Milt became a Rambler other local HS players have chosen to join the team as well. His success has turned into the programs success. On top of that Birdie is probaly the best Rambler fan on twitter, she is great. Honestly I hope nobody wears 35 for the Rambler's again as I think Milt is the defining player of a generation of Loyola Hoops on top of the previously commented on excellent career counting statistics.

Milt has probably helped this program in more ways than we can imagine. I remember when he was redshirting and the whole talk was how we couldn't wait until Milton could play. I'm happy that he lived up to the hype and then some.

On the court, I think obviously his Bradley buzzer beater was the single most memorable moment. That was probably the biggest basketball moment I've witnessed live. On top of that, his dunk to start the Wichita game in St. Louis last year really set the tone for that game. Overall, he's been so fun to watch. Some games where he just took over were unbelievable. I really thought that earlier this year he was going to get a triple-double with points, assists, and rebounds. It has been a ton of fun to watch him play the past 4 years.

As much as he has been great on the court, I am happy for who he is off the court. First, his commitment to stay and not try and graduate and go to a bigger program says a lot. I had a class with Milt, a few years ago, and he was always polite and humble. He never acted like he was a special because he was a basketball player. Even after the semester ended, he still would say hello, even though most people act like they don't know you since the class was over, and we weren't bet buds in the class. I think Mark Adams pointed out yesterday how much he's grown as a person, and it shows. His interviews and vocal leadership on the court really show how he's grown.

Thanks Milt for representing the school so well, what you've accomplished on the court, and how you've carried yourself off the court! It will definitely be different without you. Congratulations on graduating!

At this point, I am not sure what is left to be said about Milton's career at Loyola. It's been pretty remarkable and extremely important for all the reasons that others have already said. I hope for him and for us that the story doesn't end 10 or 11 days from now in St. Louis.

I don't know how often a player comes through in the way that Milt has when that player had to sit on the bench for a year while the entire fanbase pinned its hopes on him. The first year in the Valley was more of a struggle for the team than I had hoped, but Milton was a scoring machine from the start, and of course the year ended with The Shot in St. Louis. After that, between injuries and roster changes, he's had to overcome a lot, so it's just great to see him succeed the way he has, particularly this year in which he is deserving of conference Player of the Year votes.

Beyond that, I'm fortunate to have met and had many conversations with his mom, who is a fun and unbelievably supportive person. (She's taught me a lot about basketball too!) It's no wonder that Milt has grown into a great man who is humble and generous.

Going to miss him. But not until after St. Louis!

P.S. The number 5 player comp for Milton's senior season is.... Blake Schilb, '07 -- his senior season, 10 years ago. How's that for symmetry?
