I am guessing we will be playing in the 4/5 game. And, assuming ISUr and WSU win out, ISUr will win the tiebreaker and have the 1 seed in St. Louis. That means we'd be facing WSU on Saturday assuming we win our first game. That's too bad. I'd much rather play the birds in the semis. The Shockers have been absolutely blowing teams away lately and are looking scary good.

Doesn't the winner of the 4/5 game get the #1 seed on Saturday?

Unless they changed the layout, winner of the 4-5 game plays the 1 seed. However, the RPI is tightening. Currently ISU has a 34 and WSU has 45. I don't think it'll change, but there is a chance WSU wins the tiebreaker. Also, ISU has to go to UNI to close the season. I wouldn't be completely surprised if they lose that game giving WSU an outright win. We'll have to see.

Yes, the winner of the 4/5 game is on the 1 seed side of the bracket. If it plays out as expected, we'd play SIU on Friday, with the winner to likely get the Redbirds on Saturday. That scenario would also have us playing SIU two games in a row, which is never good. Of course, that's if everything goes as expected over the next two games and the first few games of the s Tournament....which is anything but guaranteed this year.

Won't be good for SIU either for what it's worth!

I stand corrected! I like our chances against SIU and ISUr. And if we can make it to Sunday...anything can happen (also gives the winner of the 3/6 game chance to upset WSU on Saturday...)

I hate to be called "MR. Downer," but if Loyola losses to both Drake and SIU they very likely would be facing a dreaded PIG as the seventh seed on Thursday. It is fun to speculate about Friday and Saturday, but first the team must take care of business this Wednesday evening. It is amazing to me how important the final league game with Drake is every year!

Even if we lose the last two games, the odds are still in our favor that we don't fall farther than 6th. Is it possible? Yes, but it would take some very big upsets. Indiana State is already a lock. Evansville plays at WSU Wednesday, and unless they pull out the huge upset they're a definite Thursday. Bradley and Drake play the final game, so we're guaranteed to finish ahead of one of them as well. That leaves one Thursday spot. If Bradley wins vs. Drake, and we end up tied with Bradley, we win the tie-breaker with them. The only scenario I can see where we end up a Thursday team is if we lose out, and Drake wins out. Even in that scenario we'd still have a shot at 6th if MSU loses their last two to Bradley and WSU. So is it possible? Yes. Is it "very likely"? I'm going with no.
