SO SIU ON SATURDAY. Likely SIU again at Arch Madness....
I am not sure how to think about this. Is it a good thing or a bad thing?
Do we try a bunch of offenses and defenses on Saturday? Do we focus first and foremost on winning this game?
I posted this to avoid doing real work today, so I thought i would daydream about this scenario....

I've been debating the same thing. Part of me would prefer to give our backups heavy minutes to rest our starters... Winning the game potentially puts us in the 3 spot. Which would likely put us against Missouri State, but on Wichita's side of the bracket. I'd rather play SIU twice in a row then a potential matchup with ISUr in the semi's than MSU and Wichita back to back. SIU is a sneaky good team. To beat them we really need to have Kirby bang down low with O'Brien and make him work.

I wonder about this, too. I think it's meaningful to Porter and to the program to finish at .500 in conference. I also think they want the three seed. You do have five days off between Saturday and Friday, so there's plenty of time for everybody to get healthy and regroup. I have no doubt they will play to win.

Even though it certainly seems like the 4/5 game is a nice spot to be in (you get a little extra time between games, and you most likely face ISUr rather than Wichita if you win), I'm a little dubious about trying to angle into a seeding that looks beneficial. I think you have to play it out and live with the results.

If Porter looks for chances to rest Doyle, Custer, Jackson, etc that wouldn't surprise me. Maybe he also won't pull out every trick in the bag.

I go back and forth on this as well. Obviously, playing ISUr on Saturday (assuming we beat SIU Friday which, of course, will be tough) would give us a better chance to make it to the championship game on Sunday so the 4/5 game is appealing. It also allows for two different chances at WSU being upset. But, odds are that we will have to beat WSU regardless of where we are seeded so might be best to play them Saturday instead of having to face them in our third game in three days.

Also worth noting with 2 more wins we'll also have our second 20 win season in 3 years.

Yikes when I heard that we might get SIU....back to back.....but same thing for them. Obrien was the guy...a mobile big guy.......Coach will find a way to stop him, I think that is his specialty. But do you want to show your hand in the first game? This is turning into a good poker game.......I think we will see a lot of Cammeron Satterwhite and we will go small with either Milton Doyle or Donte Ingram on Obrien ...or maybe we will see the zone that we used against ISUr
