It's almost that time of year, when the MVC individual awards are given out. As far as Loyola goes, I think Milton Doyle will finally make the MVC 1st Team at the end of the year. As a freshman, Doyle won Freshman and Newcomer of the Year, and was named to the postseason Honorable Mention team. He made preseason honorable mention as a sophomore, but he was off the postseason teams because of missing 12 games due to injury-- Christian Thomas made Honorable Mention that year. In 2015-16, Doyle again made pre-season Honorable Mention, but failed to make a postseason team as Montel James' late surge landed him on the MVC 2nd team.

So here he is, the MVC's active career points leader with 1588 points, and he's only made a post-season team once in his career, and it was Honorable Mention as a freshman. Plus he's 15th in career assists in the league since 1992-93, 7th in Usage Percentage in the MVC since 2009-10 (right between Cleanthony Early and Colt Ryan), and on the verge of entering the league's Top 100 in career rebounds since 1992-93 (not bad for a 6'4" guard who was injured for a third of a season).

This year, Doyle ranks 3rd in points per game (15.6), 19th in rebounds per game (4.9), 3rd in assists per game (4.5), and 4th in steals per game (1.6). He's also had his highest season free throw percentage of his career (81.1%).

There's also a case to be made for Donte Ingram to make the 2nd team. He currently ranks 10th in points per game (13.8), 5th in rebounds (6.7), 4th in field goal percentage, and 2nd in three point field goal percentage.

Aundre Jackson and Clayton Custer might be on the Newcomer team, and Ben Richardson probably deserves to be on the defensive team.

It will be interesting to see how it all plays out. In contention for 1st team will be Paris Lee, Teddy Hawkins, Mikyle McIntosh, Markis McDuffie, Landry Shamet, the guy killing the stat sheet at MSU, Jeremy Morgan and I guess the guy that shoots 20 times a game from UE.

I think Lee is a lock. One of Hawkins/McIntosh will be on there. At least one of McDuffie/Shamet will be on there if not both. That leaves one or two spots for the others. I don't think Evansville guy makes 1st team. So it comes down to Doyle, Morgan and I think Johnson is the guy at MSU, for the last spot or two. Doyle definitely has a chance, but Morgan may get a nod due to being preseason POY.

When we start thinking 2nd team, the above that miss 1st team are probably on 2nd. That basically leaves one spot, unless UE guy gets bumped to HM. At that point, you may be able to add in competition from a Conner Frankamp along with an Ingram and maybe a couple of others.

I have no idea what to expect from the All D team or newcomers. I'd have to look into it more than I want to right now.

I love Milt and mean no disrespect, but I genuinely wonder where he ranks in turnovers/game.

Doyle has 88 turnovers, ISU's Paris Lee and Bradley's Darrell Brown each have 83.

Have to agree with sub. Milton is good enough, but he's right on the cut line. Ingram is good enough for second team, but again, right on the cut line. Tough call.

Johnson and Custer should make the All-Newcomer Team, except....Alize Johnson, Phil Fayne, Darral Willis, Thik Bol, Landry Shamet, and Darrell Brown. I'm not saying one or both won't make it, but the competition is pretty stiff.

All-Defensive team is a tough call. Paris Lee plus four others.

Bottom line for Loyola is that they have a nice team next year! Ingram, Jackson, Richardson, Custer Satterwhite, Negron, Krutwig, Chastain and Kirby. That's four good players, Kirby is a big body, and four players with tons of upside (like Satterwhite already). If both of the freshman pan out, Ramblers for second place!

Thanks for the kind post WuFan! Biggest piece of next year in my opinion will be Marques Townes our transfer guard. He will likely take Milts starting spot. Played high school ball and is close friends with Karl Anthony Towns. He's been a bull driving to the paint in the open practices we've seen. No one will replace Milts playmaking tho. The offense will certainly be tweaked; but there's major potential if they can put it together!

Regarding Milts turnovers he definitely seems to have cut down on them this year. I'd be curious to see his usage rates/how often he has the ball compared to Lee. He has the ball so much it's kind of understandable (that UNI game is a major eye sore). Lee's probably still a better passer but I'd be curious.

I think if we finish 3rd in conference Milts a lock for first team, 4th he's likely while 5th is a bit more dicey. I think Shamet is very deserving but may get bumped due to his age; same with Mcduffie. I could see Doyle, Johnson, Lee, Hawkins and Morgan. I'm curious to see if the conference will reward Hawkins given his off court issues.

As for newcomers I think Jackson will be a lock based on his efficiency. He's still 4th in the nation in FG% and is a leading scorer for the team. Custer will have a tougher battle, but could make it given his heavy minutes.

Defense i could see Doyle or Ben sliding in, idk if Ben has a league wide defensive rep. We love him but idk how far that spreads. The locks for that team IMO would be Lee, Bol, and Morgan. Don't know enough to say where our guys fall with the rest though.

I forgot about Townes...team is really good if you can get some contributions from one of the two freshman.

Also, I agree that Jackson (along with Johnson) is a near lock for all new-comer team. I forgot about Taylor from UE, so Custer is probably out (although his performance would have him competing for NCOY in previous years).

Not really surprised that Milt leads the league in turnovers. With him I learned to accept the bad with the good, with the good definitely outweighing the bad most games.

He played a lot more under control on senior night against Drake, with only one turnover.

In my opinion, when you play up tempo as we NOW do t/os will happen--see 1963 team--AND Milt is the lead gunner--hence his t/os are most frequent

BTW I wager MJ had a ton of t/os-- Milt's success far outweighs his failures

He does? I know he's top ten in A/TO ratio. He also has the best turnover rate in his career by a wide margin according to Kenpom:

Fr. 21.9%
So. 26.4%
Jr. 25.4%
Sr. 18.6%
