What member public or private won two national championships in any sport in the last five years? The author of that article is overlooking the massive achievement of Loyola men's bb. Before joining MVC.

I think this article does not take a lot into account, one being the public image outside of just purely winning athletics. A league looks better with better recognized institutions, and larger private institutions do tend to be better recognized in a positive way than state schools that frankly in the Missouri Valley, tend to be the little brother in their respective state. What Loyola has recently lacked in athletic success (barring Men's Volleyball obviously, as well at Track and Men's Soccer) it more than makes up for by being a recognizable academic institution which has to help the Valley,

I saw a link to that article and read 60% of it before I gave up in disgust. Yes, the MVC hasn't had any private school members in the NCAA tournament since 2010 if you exclude Creighton. But Creighton WAS a member of the MVC, and one of only four private members while they were in the league. So basically, what he's saying is that the three other private schools (Bradley, Evansville, and Drake-- plus Loyola for their four years in the league, haven't won an NCAA bid in a one and a half-bid league with Creighton and Wichita State as other members.

So, yeah. If you exclude the really successful private school that went on to form a conference made almost completely of highly successful private schools, then private schools haven't won anything.
