This is nauseating. Talk about being irrelevant! Has Loyola really sunk so low that their basketball program is barely an afterthought?

I love my Ramblers as much as the next person... but correct me if i'm wrong... besides the fine folk that participate on this site... and a few hundred season ticket holders... LU Basketball pretty much has been an afterthought for the past 20-30 years!

Just read that post.
The only way to get the attention now is to put up the wins. Media is shallow and skims what is EZ.
If this guy did any homework, i.e. legwork, he would know there is more to Chicago college basketball.
He would know that LU is making the effort, has shown great upside and is on the path....
Being MVC and mid major, we have to show the wins.... It is going to happen....
Go Ramblers

I completely agree! If there was mass interest in this program the media would write about it.... If there was mass interest in this program, we would easily sell out the Joe. If there was mass interest the student section would be overflowing... It's time to win!!!

Well do something about it....call the talk shows, text them etc. We have a lot to say.. comment on those stupid ass blogs....use profanity for gs......get angry .we have two of the Tribs all staters coming in..we have a graduated senior who is excelling in NBA summer league....1 college rank of graduates by athletes..our BBALL ranking is higher than depaul , uic , northern and everyone but NU......highest star rating going into next year of all the MVC
WE are ignored cuz we allow ourselves to be ignored.......dont complain if you are not going to do something.
Start by going to the ALum Athletic golf outing on AUgust 3rd....even if you do not play golf come for cocktails and dinner,,,,here Porter talk,,,,meet the athletes....buy something at the silent auction.....It is the largest fundraiser for the athletic department....watch me miss 3 foot putts all day long!
How about this everyone emails the Trib sports and asks why no article on Milt in the summer league.....to your computers!!!!!Here ya go KcJohnson@chicagotribune.com

Just ignore this take and future takes like this. A lot of these sites have content farm business models, which heavily emphasizes quantity over quality. It's best to not get worked up over this and support the program as best we can.

I'd definitely put this one in the quantity category. You can tell early on after he says that both play in "power five conferences" which implies that either the PAC-12, Big 12, ACC, or SEC isn't a power conference. Based off the article and the writer, I think it was originally supposed to be a Northwestern only article, but he added DePaul to include a power conference team and get more views. He implies that a new stadium will make them better, and one recruit shows they've improved that. He ignores that the stadium is still 25-30 minutes away, students don't care there, and the recruit just had his AAU coach get hired on DePaul's staff.

When I first read it I was more upset about him hand picking things to make an argument instead of Loyola not getting mentioned. I've developed the mentality as we start to win we'll get the coverage. Make the NCAA tournament, and it'll be near impossible to ignore us.

I still haven't figured out why everyone gets so mad when Loyola isn't mentioned. The truth is we just have not won anything yet to warrant getting talked about. Everything in that article is true -- Northwestern was able to make waves by getting into the NCAA tournament and really is the only Chicago-area school to do something in the NCAA's in quite some time. Also -- whether it's stupid or not close to campus -- the fact that DePaul got out of All-State arena and into brand new building certainly HELPS them for recruiting, and makes them more accessible to Chicago area alums and fans. They are also in a highly competitive league with historically great basketball programs.

If WE want to get noticed -- we have to actually do something. We have a new arena -- so we're not going to get noticed that way. We haven't made the NCAA tournament -- but we can change that this year. We don't play in a league with historically great teams, and we haven't had a MAJOR upset of a big-time school since when? -- Beating the Gators would help us on that front.

Either upset Florida, win the conference, make the NCAA tournament, WIN the NIT tournament, or just realize that until we do something huge -- we're not going to get noticed.

There are a lot of OPPORTUNITIES this year... but no guarantees. Fans, Student section, etc -- none of that will mean anything THIS year. This year it's all about the coach and the players... Whether they are doing it in front of 5000 or 1500 -- THEY are the ones that have to make a mark for Loyola. Do great things and people will come -- More publicity, more media stories, more fans, more students, more money to invest in the program, etc...
