Valid thought. I'm not willing to excuse the losses on the fact that players were out. Being up 12 points and 19 points to two teams that are not that good is inexcusable to me. I would be signing a different tune if we were up 12 on a good team and blew it. Those things happen. But when you let a bad team not only come back from a big deficit but beat you? That bothers me. Sure, there is a lack of execution, but that's where a coach is supposed to come in and fix it with in game adjustments. One of the things that bothers me is bad free throw shooting. Now, I don't know what goes on in practice. But if I was a head coach and my team shot 60% from the free throw line, I would run them and have them shoot free throws until they got it right. That's probably why I'm not a head coach (among the 500 or so other reasons). If a team beats you, ok. You shake their hand and wish them well. But you can't beat yourself. And that is one thing that we can't seem to get beyond. For that, I blame the coach.




Poor planning. A seeming lack of willingness to really work the JuCo angle. I'm convinced that Porter made an exception with Cody. He's got 3 years of eligibility so Porter doesn't view him as a JuCo. I'd kill for a Paul McMillian or a Demetrius Williams (I know he was a transfer, but, in effect, he was a JuCo with his 2 years)

I'm still demanding a refund of my Horizon League tourney ticket from that game from McMillan. He just started launching shots at the end and lost the game for us. It was in clear contradiction to what Farmer had drawn up for Loyola to lose the game.

While I am upset at many of the late game losses we had, especially the Tulane game, I do not think Moser is as bad of an x's o's coach as everyone is making him out to be. Having such a young team is always a problem when it comes to late game. I do not think he is the best in game coach but I feel he is not as bad as everyone makes him out to be. After this year and our performance adjusting in the MVC I feel we will be able to judge better. He is a good recruiter and I am very happy with the level of talent he has brought in. I am curious though does anyone know if Tanner has a possible return date or what exactly is wrong. Pickett also did not play last game is that still from the virus or infection that he had? I think we can win all 3 of the games this weekend but I would be happy with 2 out of 3.

Agree strongly with both of these points.

A few thoughts on size:

Indiana State, picked second in MVC and already with a win over ND has no more size inside than we do.

With our pick and pop type motion offense we aren't going to be recruiting huge back to the basket bigs that eat up space in the middle. We're going to be looking for guys that are more versatile and can play out on the perimeter some (which also opens up driving lanes for guys like Doyle and White to slash)

As ahunte said, quality bigs do not grow on trees.

Filling the void at center is the biggie here if I can make a pun--
----Maybe with Osborne, King and Cody on our roster, our coaches can bring them along--After all, there are FIFTEEN fouls there--if we indeed have to get afyrt the other guys' bigs.

Also PM takes a bit of a hit, but mostly we are ready to give him more time--I think

I would not know a ball scree from the pick and roll--but whatever we use, it appears PM should be more inclined to vary it--as the situation warrants

It is a fact of kife in big time Hoops that players are run off as it were OR choose to run --It happens. Look at the reverse--What is we kept a guy, and lose a better player because of this ?? Hard--especially if you are the one who is cut--BUT LUC is NOW into winning.

We now have THREE players who are worth the price of admission--We have good help--Turk. With more on the way.

Yhis tourney will tell us a lot---IF we get ahead in each, the important thing is to put the pedal down.

I like this team--I think we will be fine with the THREE bigs--IF they develop--Its up to them and PM.
